I've never run launch control before. So after you drop the clutch, does it turn off? I'm wondering about the pre-stage burnout. It can be a challenge to maintain the burnout without bouncing off the rev limiter. Can launch control be used to do your burnout and keep the motor from going above the preset RPM? i.e. you set it at say 6k RPM, roll into the waterbox, dump the clutch and just sit and spin at 6k RPM until the tires are good and hot without power braking or using a line lock? Or, once you dump the clutch does it turn off launch control and just rev to the limit if you apply too much throttle?

c9, I think this guy used launch control for this burnout. It seems to hold the rpm steady for a few seconds then revs to the limit. I think if you're doing a burnout in a waterbox you're going to need to power brake the car.

Car and Driver article added. My favorite quote from the article:

"This Mustang is so agile, so responsive to delicate inputs, that it makes the GT500 feel like a FedEx truck. The Boss’s grip almost always exceeds the driver’s courage. "

From Car and Driver:

"We expected the Boss 302 to be little more than a marketing exercise in nostalgia, a somewhat more brutal, slightly faster GT, with alluring graphics but primitive predilections. It isn’t. Nose to tail, this feels like a whole new equine, thoroughly sorted, conscientiously massaged, the object of considerable forethought and ambition. As automotive resurrections go, this is a knockout that venerates the original Boss while embarrassing it objectively and subjectively in every meaningful measure. What this is, is the best Mustang ever"

A couple of comments from C&D stuck out:

The gaping void between the top of the rear tires and the rolled fender lips is an eyesore. (This was a problem on the GT500) I wish they would have lowered the Boss more. It might be even worse with 18" track tires.

And the brake and accelerator pedals should be closer. (Hopefully no further apart than the GT500) Heel/toe is a bit tricky in the GT500 and somtimes don't get enough throttle blip because of it....... My guess is they are comparing to a European car where the two pedals are usually closer together.

All in all a great review though!

"The Ford engineer directing us on our first few laps told us to leave it in third gear for most of the course, with fourth gear required for the three main straights and second gear only needed for turn 11. We took his advice, and weren’t disappointed with how well the Boss 302 could pull out of corners."

This is huge on the road course. Less shifting = faster lap times.
