Boss 302S 12 quart oil pan dipstick question

Anyone know if the race teams used a different dipstick that the street boss to keep tabs on oil level? 12 quarts reads well below the add line on the factory dipstick.

No special dip stick. Mine took 12.5 quarts or there about to get it to the correct location on the dip stick. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback. It seems to register lower now than with the factory dipstick. Are you reading at the very end of the "twirl"?

Thinking back, I believe there is a cross hatched portion etched near the bottom of the dip stick. Correctly filled, the oil should be at the top of the cross hatched section.

Also had to keep track of how many quarts of oil I put in. 12 quarts is a lot of oil and is higher math to me!

Unfortunately I have sold my car and my new one is running a dry sump system. I had a 2013 Boss LS, so if anyone can upload a pic of the OEM dip stick, it should be the same.

It appears 13 quarts is the full fill level with a new filter? Interesting as there is even one reference stating 14.5?

Based on reaching the bottom of the cross hatching line, not the normal line on said dipstick.

I just checked the calibration of the dipstick on my Boss last week. 8.5 qts put it right at the top of the cross hatch.
7.5 qts at the bottom little hole just below the cross hatch. That is with the stock FL500 Filter. I did the check so I'll know where I need to be when I start modifying the oil system.

Regular Boss is a lot less , for sure, and you use the dipstick as normal . The S is a paradox as I got comments from owners of this car to fill from 12 to 14.5 qts., and it appears that 13 is the magic number?

With the FP oil cooler. That puts it in the sweet spot at the very bottom of the hashing...
