3300 miles since delivery.....no issues with lockout or clutch pedal. Replacing the shifter and shift bracket and removing the clutch assist spring were significant improvements.

My only issue is just a ever so slight crunch shifting into 2nd while the trans is cold. After it warms up its gone. I'm hoping a shifter and fluid change fixes this!

Adding to this thread, as it's useful.

I get mild synchro grinding on up shifts when the car is stone cold. This mainly affects 3rd gear. So I simply skip 3rd gear until the car has been driven a little bit.

I *do not* get the clutch stayout issue, and have not gotten shift lockout during upshifts or downshifts. I did hit the grind gears once at the track, but it's due to my own negligence and rushing the shift--this gearbox does not like to be rushed. Take it slower and there are zero issues.

This is all in a 2012 with Steeda shifter bushing/bracket (the softer one)

If you've had any warranty work completed related to your clutch or transmission please describe as briefly as possible. In for repair of the reverse gear as a result of shifter going into the reverse gate while attempting a quick 2-1 downshift. Sounds dumb, but I tested the issue while sitting still and it was a very fine line in how you place your hand on the shifter as to whether it goes to first, third, or reverse. Bad design. I shift with an open hand with slight left pressure to make the lever go into first instead of third. Any downward pressure, intentional or not, allows it to slip down into reverse.

On hot days after I've been driving it hard, I am getting a lot of 2nd gear lockouts on 1-2 shifts at redline. No grinding, just no access to 2nd gear. I removed the clutch assist spring recently and it cured the weird clutch pedal feel I was getting at high rpm shifts.

I've now experienced the clutch pedal partial sticking during last week's Laguna Seca HPDE. Seemed to happen when revving over 7000 rpm with the added issue of "difficulty" upshifting (not lockout).

I never had an issue and then I switch clutch fluid to Motorcraft 5.1 and I just had issues with grinding. I am going to switch back to Amsoil and see if that solved my issue. I have an MGW shifter.

You switched your brake fluid to DOT 5.1? While I doubt that's the issue it could be. If you haven't had clutch and trans issues yet on the original equipment it looks like your time might be up. It's rare not to see it eventually on a car that's tracked regularly.

No, I added a separate resevoir from Shelby and separated the two and used the new spec from Ford Racing 5.1. Brake Fluid is Amsoil. When they shared the same resevoir they were both Amsoil. First run I had clutch issues with the 5.1. I agree, doubtful it is just fluid but it's the only thing that changed so I'm going to test it...

Is the 5.1 a DOT 4 fluid?

I use DOT 5 on my Corvette. This is silicone based.

OK. Just googled 5.1. Not silicone.

I can't imagine how a different fluid would negatively effect shifting. Like you said, probably a coincidence.

Good luck finding the issue.

Is it possible there might still be some air in the clutch fluid line? I have a 2012 and Ford removed the clutch line bleeder. I had to pump the clutch pedal 50 - 75 times to work the air out of the clutch hydraulic system.

I too installed a separate clutch reservoir.

Keep us posted when you figure this out.
Thanks,
Dave
