Carbon Fiber strength?

So all the reports are that the rims are strong, but when they hit something (not talking a curb while parking) like going off on a track & maybe a puncture or rim dent or whatever. How do they hold up? If they are scratched or scraped are they still safe to use? Anyone have a picture of a lightly damaged rim that they still use (Not worried about cosmetics here)

How do you RECONCILE the CF "showers of little pieces" when an F1 car has an incident? Clearly the F1 cf is strong up to a point, then it sort of explodes.

Maybe, are there different kinds of CF?

I have dented alloy rims and run them without issue, also had them repaired (weld/grind) without issue.

@Black Boss has the most experience tracking the CF wheels but as I've said before there haven't been many issues. The wheels have been well tested. I think it will take a MAJOR impact/crash to shatter them and in that scenario the wheel won't be your first concern.

I know of two scratched wheels and one four wheel off.

The first was at LS turn six during Track Tour. A member put two wheels off in turn six. The wheel was quickly replaced and I never saw it. It did not go flat.

The second was damaged during shipping and had deep scratches. It was replaced under warranty. Again it did not go flat and was on the inside of the wheel.

The off was at speed and there was no damage.

All three of these were similar to what would have happened to AL wheels. At this point if I had CF wheels I'd have no more concerns than if I was using expensive AL wheels like Forgeline.
