Corbeau Harness Bar Kit

I was looking for a less expensive way to add 4-points to the Boss and came across this from Stage 3 Motorsports. If anyone has other suggestions I am all for them. I wonder how this set up would be mounted within the car?

Check it out and comment:

I'm pretty sure it mounts to the upper seatbelt anchors on the B-pillar and then it has two braces that go down to the lower seatbelt mounts. The photo is from a Corvette, but I think it's the same style, if not the same bar. I was looking at the same one. I want a harness for the track, but I'm not sure I'm willing/ready to commit to a roll bar. If anyone has any BTDT with this setup, chime-in. And yes, I am aware of the instant death I face by using harnesses without a roll bar. ;)

I too am eager for a harness bar set up. I am going to call this company today.
Will let you know what I find out.
On a different subject.Anyone know of light weight wheels for the Boss.I want to use Hoosiers !

You are correct on how this mounts. I spoke with Corbeau last month and they verifed exactly what you stated. I already have this on my Christmas list, now I need to decide on which belt configuration I want, I was thinking about a 5 point harness so if anyone is currently using a 5 point and would recommend one, let me know which manufacturer (and part number) I would be greatly appreciated.

They only weigh 20lbs and you can get a set for around $1300. Have a body shop paint them gloss black if you want for about $200.
Rear 18 x 10.5 38 mm offset - Hoosier R6 295/30/18
Front 18 x 9.5 35 mm offset - Hoosier R6 275/35/18

Does anyone know how much the factory LS wheels weigh? I would rather keep the factory look even when flying around the track.

Sorry for hi-jacking this post. If anyone knows, they can PM me and let this post get back on track.

I thought you were running the Hoosier's on your 19" 302S wheels?
I am, but you can run Hoosiers on the Enkeis too ;) I'll probably be doing that next season unless the Nittos come back down in price. Right now Nittos are as high as R6s.

Is there much of a height difference between the two sizes?
The 302S wheel with a 295/30/19 is 26.1" tall and the Enkei PF01 with a 295/30/18 is 25.3" tall.

Sorry to continue the hijack. I'm very interested in hearing more about this harness bar and belts too ;D

Me too. Here's a link to Safecraft the company that makes the belts used in the MMP Boss Track Attack cars. Note no four point belts.

https://www.safecraft.com/products.php?category=28&master_cat=motorsports

Here's some info on why a sub belt is used and it's not to keep you from sliding out of the seat according to this info.

This is taken from the NorCal Shelby Club's website:

The first part of this article is on belts. Most of us started driving with simple lap belts in early cars or standard 3 point belts in later and current cars. Real belts are soon needed though. Real belts are 5 or 6 point, depending on the car. Since our car seats are upright, we’ll focus on 5 point belts. Why 5 point over 4 point? The 5 point harness consists of a lap belt (2 points), a pair of shoulder belts (2 more points) and a little bottom center belt (the final 5th point) that runs down between your legs. That little bottom center belt, known as a “sub-strap”, is not to prevent the driver from sliding under the lap belts – after all it is only one little 2” belt compared to 2 – 3” lap belts and 2 more 3” shoulder belts, and the driver is sitting up. The sub-strap’s purpose is to hold the lap belt in place, over your hard, bony, pelvis, and to not allow it to rise up, as the shoulder belts are pulled snug. If the lap belt rises, it will end up over your belly button and a whole bunch of soft internal organs that really don’t like to take an impact. In case of an impact, the lap belt must be low across the pelvis and the only way to insure this, with snug shoulder belts, is to have a sub strap holding the lap belt down. A normal installation technique for a sub-strap is to drill a hole in the car floor and install an eye bolt for the strap. If you do not want to drill a hole in the floor of your car, it is fairly easy to fabricate a bracket that attaches to the front seat frame bolts and holds the eye bolt for the sub strap. Belts do age, due to physical abrasion from use, perspiration, exposure to ozone and sunlight. Different organizations have different standards for belt ages. We encourage drivers to review these standards, consider their car use and storage and then decide what is appropriate for their particular situation. We strongly recommend that all belts be either SFI 16.1 approved, or FIA approved to spec 8853/1985, spec 8853/98, or spec D-###T98. Belts were a recent topic of discussion on our email list, which turned up some excellent sites for more information on belts and installation: http://www.sfifoundation.com , then click on “articles’ and then “Seat Belts: Essential to Driver Safety”; G-Forces article at http://www.gforce.com/pdf/harnessinstall.pdf ; and Schroth’s site at http://www.schrothracing.com/info/9 and particularly click on “Belt Wrapping” under “Information” for some great drawings on how to wrap your belts. And if we haven’t convinced you to do things right, go to NASCAR’s report of the tragic crash of Dale Earnhardt and belt analysis to see how things can go wrong: http://ww.nascar.com/SPECIAL/er/download/ This is pretty large at 57MB, but clearly shows how even good belts can fail if they are not installed correctly. This is a very sobering, unflinching and detailed analysis of how good belts can fail, if improperly installed and is not for the faint of heart.

Has anyone contacted Recaro about adding a sub strap whole on the bottom of the seat. I would imagine they could put a kit together.

My harness bar goes in Tuesday!
I did however find a wheel company that is going to be making 18 x10’s ’s for our cars. They use the process as BBS. They claim a weight of 14lbs!!! Now the best part 300-400 per wheel!.I will keep everyone informed.
Now who can find me a rear diff cooler????

So does the harness bar com out easily? I want to keep the rear seats usable for the kids so I'd like to install and remove the bar for track days if possible

And how worried should I be with harnesses without a cage???

For those considering a harness bar you may just want to look at the Maximum Motorsports 4 point cage. It may be a little more expensive, but to me it is such a better way to go....

That looks pretty cool. So with the democratic harness bar it keeps the back seat useable. Right??

Has anyone bought this yet?
