Crankshaft Dampers

It sounds to me that anyone building one of these engines needs to spend some time with an old school engine guy and his balancing equipment. 8 grand is not that much RPM, we were spinning big block chevies to 10,500 in pro stock back in the early 70s.

I’m using a new OEM damper on my RGR rebuild (which may be complete in a few weeks). Just so I understand correctly, is the rotating assembly balanced with or without the damper installed on the crank?

My old school guy wanted my clutch assembly and damper. He’s balancing it all, including my spare clutch.

You can do without but for something like that you’d want the damper on there.

As far as OEM is there any benefit to getting the Boss damper or is it best to get a new GT damper for a GT (2014)?
