DIY 2010-2012 hood venting

So I've been looking around for hoods and or trackspec vents for some cooling and to stop the hood from shaking like it was possessed on the straights and well, I can't afford either lol. So I decided to utilize my own stock hood, a gt500 vent, and some wannabe 2013-14 vents I copped off the interwebs. So here's a little diy how to tech on how to vent the crap out of your stock 2010-2012 hood.

So I got lucky cause my wife works for ford and she got me th 2010-214 gt500 vent for 89 bucks.f30200bcc4f126d5370052da01ad6bc7.jpg

The vent is too wide for the 2010-2012 hood bulge so I made the decision to chop it up.b6b1c20d8595c48d4823dfc701666345.jpg8350b27a5571275240b037b84125df6c.jpg
I made some templates and after some tedious measuring I found the spot where I thought the vents would be most effective894e6144353e47a075257cba609614ee.jpg

I also placed them where there was hardly any framing so cutting was as smooth as possible.

After the holes were cut I tested the fitment and for the vents to fit as flush as possible the tabs have to be cut and sanded down.1fa2fa97504aa1ef925fa8a477555a3b.jpg
I decided to go the extra mile and do a little body work and paint with some rustoleum paint. (Lays down the nicest and smoothest).

After the paint dried for 2 days I went ahead and riveted the vents down. And here's the finished product.

Where do those side vents come from?

Any testing done?? If possible try to log coolant temps to see if they drop.

Nice work.....

Thanks! I haven't been able to log any coolant temps but I have done a few high speed runs and the hood doesn't shake anymore and the front end feels slightly more planted...so I guess it must be working lol

The side vents I ordered through Americanmuscle.com. They're abs plastic. I had to do a little trimming on the underside to get them to fit .
