Engine block VIN location?

I need to find where Ford stamp the vehicle VIN / serial number on the block of my Boss 302's engine for registration purposes when the car gets shipped to me here in the UK. I have Googled it without much luck, it seems other than the intake plate there is no permanent ID on the block! Is this true? What happens with these modern cars when the old 'Numbers Matching' scenario occurs in a few years time? Does anyone here know of it's location?

Thanks boss man, but that just looks like a build date, I'm after a proper engine number, usually they have part of the VIN incorporated into it, as far as I know. The number should identify the engine to the matching chassis VIN.

usually that is for law enforcement use only. you should have the inspectors already knowing that information. its not something that is going to be talked about.

just like the c vin and b vin numbers. there locations are confidential.

While I haven't looked to see if the 5.0L is the same, the 4.6L 2v and 4v engines had the last 8 characters of the VIN on the LH side of the block at the rear just above the oil pan.

I thought our engines didn't have serial numbers that matched the VIN??? This has been mentioned a few times by members that had their engines replaced under warranty.

IIRC, members have been told that the engines didn't have a matching VIN #. Have any verified it themselves?

I know, for a fact, that the transmission has the last 6 or 8 of the VIN on it. I guess I'll have to look at it the next time I change my oil. ;)

Here are the last 8 of the VIN stamped on the engine block, LH side above the oil pan at the rear of the block.

I've seen this on the transmission, too. I couldn't find it today.
