Ford-Magna Develops Carbon Fiber K-Member

This will shed more than a few pounds. Production cost will have to be vary favorable, but in the future could you imagine Ford Performance offering carbon fiber K-Member upgrades for our Mustangs at an affordable price?

I'm thinking that this could be the main change for the S650 update. Would be good to be wrong about the aluminum frame that I suspected. CF and steel would be better.

I know and this was my initial thought. But if Ford makes this into a production piece, they would have to bring down the traditional high cost of a CF K-Member. So this begs the question:

If a CF K-Member was available for your S197 or S550 chassis Mustang, what would you pay for it? (Assuming it would be 1/3 of the OEM part weight?)

I would be interested if price point was $2-2,500 USD.

FYI - The OEM K-member for my Boss was just a hair over 44 pounds. The BMR k-member I replaced it with was 24 pounds. (Not including the hardware in both numbers) - For that kind of money, it better come in under 10 pounds

That's good to know! Scratch that as the weight savings would never justify the cost. I'd have to save 40-50 lbs to spend a few k.
