So here’s one for the braintrust...

I have a 2014 GT Track Pack car that I installed the FRPP procal tune on. I just bought my daughter the same car this weekend - and I mean the same car. Same year, color, trim, engine, transmission. It’s my car - only it’s not, it’s hers.

So: could I use the same tune on my car on hers? I’m thinking it should work but don’t want to lock up the PCM or anything weird.

    Thanks!

I had a similar situation and checked with FRPP.
Their response was it would work fine.

It won’t work, the calibration is married to the original VIN. You have to buy an additional kit that will be assigned to the new car....

After checking with FRPP, I gave the Procal tuner from my older car to another individual with the same make model etc and there were no issues.
    desmo900,
For piece of mind, there's no cost to check with them if you want to confirm.

Ok, just to be clear, the calibration can only be used with one VIN at a time. If you want both cars to have the track call, you need two separate kits. I apologize for if my response did not convey this....

BigTaco - thanks for your response, it is perfectly clear. There seems to be some disagreement on the issue. For argument sake, wouldn’t the Procal be primarily related to the PCM and not the VIN specifically? I don’t know if the PCM records the unique VIN (I wouldn’t be surprised if it did).

    Thanks for the input anyway.

Fastfordnut - thanks for your reply. Did FRPP seem to indicate any connection to the VIN or was it PCM specific?

    Thanks!

That would make sense. Thanks again for the feedback.

    I think this is correct.

Can be used on either car, just one at a time.

BigTaco is trying to explain that the ProCal cannot be used to tune two cars at the same time. It will work on multiple vehicles, but cannot tune multiple vehicles simultaneously.

Ford, like SCT and others, doesn’t want someone to buy a single tuner and then turn around and use it to tune a fleet of vehicles.

The vin has little to do with compatability.
The PCM is the deciding factor.
Same make, model and year need to be the same.
As Big Raco correctly stated, it can only be used in one vehicle at a time.
