Plan was to use the second waterproof case and drill a hole for the Audio cable. Thus the lens of the camera is protected but you can still hook up the external Mic. Yes you could have used the skeletal case, but it has quite a few more holes and my way minimizes dust etc.

I'll actually throw in this little bracket my friend made for me. He made it on my request specifically so I could mount the Pro24CM mic directly between the exhausts and out of the air stream.

It can also be reversed to have it lower and also used for the Go pro itself keeping it directly centered.
