Since y'all enjoyed my previous lap video of COTA, may I present an ... intense ... lap around Road Atlanta? For reference, this is not only way faster than Petit Lemans GTD qualifying (1:23), but also faster than the outright GTLM qualifying record (1:16.2), and for that matter LMP3 and Formula Atlantic.

Enjoy!

What car is that? Sure isn't a Mustang doing a lap like that.
Lap times at Mosport and Road Atlanta are virtually identical, a 1:15 at Mosport puts it in hallowed territory, a Ferrari 312 did a 1:13, Ron Fellows in a stock C8 Z06 did a 1.22.12.

you want to see ridiculous (this one is close), search for the older Ferrari f1 car lap on YouTube. 1 min 1 sec. doesn't even look like they touch the brakes.

I was there when it happened! Bud Moeller ran his car to a very respectable time (1:04 if I recall), then handed it to Gene who set that track record. Amazing to watch.

To be fair, a lot of people have been comparing your lap and Ryan Hardwick's lap to GT3/GTLM laptimes, which yes makes it easy for people to understand how fast this is.
However, the GT MKIV has 300hp more than a GT3 car, weights about 350kg less, runs a lot more aero and has carbon brakes, so anybody slower than a GT3 in that thing needs to go get some driving lessons :p
What I love about this is when you see TimeAttack cars with insane aero, 1500hp and slicks run a good 5-6" slower than this, that shows you the difference between a properly engineered racecar and, well, everything else...

Fast lap and impressive driving, from a very impressive car too!

BTW, love the color scheme, hard to go wrong with a Gulf liveried car!!!

Heh. GTLM cars make about 550HP, have similar curb weight to the MK IV, and run on Michelin Confidential tires (~2 sec/lap faster than the consumer mediums we use). GT3 cars make 500HP, also similar curb weight, and qualify on soft-compound Michelin consumer tires. But yes, I'd expect a bronze driver in the MK IV will be faster than a top pro in a GT LM car on most tracks.

I can assure you our GT3 car is not at the curb weight of your MKIV, very far from it ... And we're not at 500hp with BOP :(

Totally agree on the tires though, and these make a huge difference.
In any case, super fast and impressive lap, must be a blast behind the wheel. I only got to sit in it while parked, it already makes you feel like you're going fast :)

Ahhh, I was comparing to my Ferrari 488 GT3, which is 2800lb curb weight and 500BHP. I can believe that the Mustang GT3 is ... chonkier. I _am_ surprised to hear you're getting less than 500HP with the restrictors, given the car's weight and relatively large aero profile I'd expect BOP to be more lenient for the 'stang.

Well, BOP has been killing the start of our season, especially in IMSA because everybody was sandbagging during the ROAR, and Harry went full retard on a super fast lap, so IMSA buried us with weight and restrictors. It's slowly getting better (got 4mm larger restrictors for the Glen, and lost weight for Mosport).
But in any case, we're on the heavy side for sure...
