Help Me w/ TPMS Info

I've got my new Forgestar wheels arriving soon and I need to get the TPMS valves ordered. I've read a little about the Ford system and have seen where some people said you do not need the programmer.

What's the deal with (or purpose of) the programmer?

What happens if I take my Forgestar wheels of and put my stock wheels back on for a track day or whatever....?

Thanks! :)

The programmer "activates/excites" the TPMS so that the computer sees it and knows which one it is by the order you excite them. Read online about putting your car in the TPMS learn mode. If you are using one set of wheels for the track, I would highly recommend you put a set of steel valve stems in, and not put TPMS in that set of wheels. You'll get a TPMS fault when driving on the track, but as soon as you put your street wheels back on, the computer will see them and the fault will go away. Good Luck.

You don't need the programmer and the sensors will program themselves after about 100 miles. You can find extra sensors and metal valve stems for them in the thread below. I drive my car to and from the track and have TPMS sensors in my track wheels.
