What a racket. I've never trusted/used 3rd party image hosting.

Someday they flip the switch and you're either missing images, or they hold them hostage.

Looks like that's today for those guys. Sorry to see how it has rippled across the web.

And the plot thickens...
I just tried to download my pics from Photobucket and it wont let me. Nor will it let me view anything but a thumbnail, rendering hundreds of my photos and videos useless. They are holding my media hostage for $500.00. BASTARDS!

I think I'm fortunate because photobucket is nothing but redundancy for me and I use to post pictures on forums. I back everything up on a TB external drive, and other in the cloud backups. Still, what irks me to no end is I was paying PB, albeit a small amount to use their service. I think it was 2.99/mo for x amount of space. I should have known something was up when I did not see the automatic charge on my cc in May.

It will be interesting to see if this brazen move on their behalf blows over and they pocket the profits or it becomes a blunder of insurmountable proportions and they go the way of the Yugo.

Remember Netflix canceling every bodies dvds and switching to downloads only?
They had to apologize to customers and bring the service back.

I watch Blu-ray DVD's Still the best quality. ;)

I have a few hundred photo's there, mostly linked to several car forums, diy images. So I assume this means those links will now show as red x or such? These are 5 - 10 years old.

:)

Yup, all the work you've done was just arbitrarily thrown out by some greedy corporation without warning or consent. Nice huh?
