Install of original LS splitter

I still have in the original splitter in the box that came with 2013 LS711. I thought I would install it on the car this weekend.
I know some of you have installed the splitter on your Boss. Is there anything special I need to be aware of when proceeding this weekend. I thought I remember someone saying to get longer bolts because the ones provided are too short. If so what length is preferred? Anything else? Thanks as always, I appreciate the help.

Curious as to the angle of the LS chin splitter. Mine is running about 5 degrees down all around. Is it suppose to be level for it to work properly? No engineer here but I would think angled down up front would create more down force on the front end. I didn't see anything in the instructions. What are you guys running?

The angle of the spitter will have very, very small incremental effect on downforce. Most of it comes from the added surface area of the top of the spitter, which lowers the stagnation point or the effective angle-of-attack for the car aerodynamically. Not to be confused with using a spacer to lower the whole splitter, which adds surface area hence lowering the stagnation point. Believe it or not, air actually flows *forward* on the splitter.

Set it where you think it looks best. I have mine jacked up on the street for clearance and lower it to level for the track.

Hope that helps.

I never thought of changing the angle for clearance. I removed mine because it scrapes at the end of my driveway. I'm putting it on for a show, maybe I can keep it on with a bit of adjustment.

Thanks for the idea!

I was able to purchase a 2012 Boss 302 LS accessory package from an owner of a 12 LS that was totaled by his transport company. The kit came with the LS Splitter, Brake Duct Cooling Kit and the Trans Cooler Scoop. I finally installed it last summer and so far only one minor touch. The larger LS Splitter does add a nice look on the 2012 MY Boss 302.

In addition to Grant's comments above, I think it might also help to smooth out the air flow underneath the car. I can say that the Boss feels rock solid at speed.

Gosh, these cars are fun to drive fast.

Enjoy your Mustang,
