Intake Manifold Heat Shields - Gimmick or Not?

    Well, the quoted 12 HP gains might be a gimmick. The PCM isn't going to 'add' timing without seeing lower IATs, though it might help reduce the onset of knock when using questionable fuel.

    Thanks Grant. I was debating whether or not to do this since I have the manifold sitting on the bench right now. It sounds like it may not be worth the effort.

    Only if you count the effort as 'free'. I'm all for insulating stuff but I hate over paying for 'kits' that anyone could put together for half the money even at retail prices.

    While I had my manifold off I fashioned a stick on heat shield. I can’t tell if it helps or not, but I feel better flogging my motor in the 95 degree heat here in Utah!
