First day was pretty wet, but dried up the second day for some good laps. Was my first event on 200tw tires. Amazed by the grip difference moving up to the 200tws. I can't wait to get back out there and find the limits to these tires.

I'm pulling up the rear on Road Atlanta it looks like.

NASA Southeast was at Road Atlanta March 9th and 10th for the "Race for the Pi" event.

2013 V6 Auto Mustang.
285/35/18 RS4 tires on 18x10 wheels (most important thing likely)

The second lap is more fun to watch as I get passed by a Honda and have to figure out how to do it without giving up time. A racer taught me to breath the throttle and get in line behind people in these scenarios and iwll hold neither of you up. and the lap time shows it didn't! I also passed a slow rolling Thunder Roadster on the outside of 12 at teh end of this clip.

Virtual best was a 1:48.76, so got close!

Is anyone scoring damp laps? It was 50 degrees and raining both mornings I was there this weekend. The Hankook's were shiznit in this weather, so I put on my daily driver Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires and attacked. Sunday morning was better, I got a 2:02.81, and it was not misting or raining, but no dry line was apparent yet. Saturday morning (the second set of videos), were 2:04.27 and 2:04.54 when consistent, and a couple of passes are thrown in for good measure!!

I was also instructing a fellow a fellow member here named Chandler from Charlotte. On that first wet lap his girlfriend was in the car with me.

Chandler apparently wants to go spec iron racing.. I ran a 360 video with him in the car when we got turned loose after a double yellow and the DE3-4 combined session was in a massive clump.

What did you use for the 360 video? That's pretty awesome. I was able to meet Chandler this weekend as well. Looks like I should have got around the paddock more to find you for some tips!

Agree , the Michelins are pretty decent and don't get greasy as quick, but the RE71s would like rip off a quicker time for enough laps to score a 1:47 or 1:48!

Liked how you ran down turn 12!!

PS - are you on the dinky little 285/18s also???

If you refer to me, yes, because I’m too poor to be doing this mess anyway. The Michelins are 275’s on 9 inch wheels!

Sorry , assumed you were on bigger tubes since you had listed 18x10s with S-4s, so figured you stuck on a set of 295s French flyers? Regardless, my friend, nice video and considering you are running a 6, you have a slew of admirers on TMO.

And just agreeing with you that with RE71rs you would have been 1-2 seconds quicker!

My daily wheels are 19x9 with Michelin. The 295 I passed on in hankook for a couple reasons. One was that it was on special order. Another reason is they run very wide, and I saw a picture indicating they would be better on an 11 inch wheel. The final factor was price. I saved $100 going 10mm narrower!

I would sure check on the specs with our TireRack Link, as this is one of the best things about TireRack. The rim range makes it easy to make a decision, but you are better off than others since the weight of your car is lighter. You might look into the 295 A052 Yokes next time around , there is a sleeper racing donut for you. Keep posting , always interesting what you accomplish with 100-160 horsepower down to your competitors.

I did check and a member here from Apex posted a picture, lots of sidewall flex! Besides, 295 would ship from Korea whenever a container gets full. No thanks!

I think Yokohamas in my size are $400 a piece? Might as well go with that BFG R-Comp...

No argument there, love the gforceR1, but the Yokes are about $315, actually. Heh, I am on your side, just always enjoyed guys who were quick in cars with less hp, etc. so even more fun when they can shock even more folks. You are quick already so was just throwing out some quick tire ideas , no offense. Enjoy your postings and the times you are turning. Ran Spec Miata for years and it was a hoot staying up or passing much faster cars, so I respect those who do alot with less!

Okay, after a NASA MA weekend @ VIR I am here to post a new personal best!

I previously posted a 2:16.83 on RE71R. The only differences since then is a BMR K member, polyurethane bushings, and in my opinion most important, a switch fron a 30 profile to 35 profile tire in the 285/35/18 Hankook RS4.

I think it may be much to note in our little score card, but this should not be construed to say the RS4 is better than RE71r. The car was out of 4th gear at 123 mph on re71r and out of ideas in 5th. The 35 profile allowed me to get to 132.4 mph on a few laps on the limiter right at my brake marker to roller coaster, and the time gain is all due to straightaway speed there and the front straight.

THE RS4 Is more forgiving to me, feels similar and almost cant tell a difference, but seems to be more capable of dealing with being overdriven. The re71r had more in it but to me required more precision to get everything out of it.

A few Muscrat brethren may be spotted if you watch all 14 minutes!

2:15.83 in 32 degree morning air was the best. I got damn close in a sparsely popilated afternoon session, also in the video directly after the main attraction

Duane, I was out there running DE3 this past weekend and remember seeing you running by in 4. Had no idea it was a 6 banger, lol. Around 9:41 I am with the crew off to the left of the back straight. Insanely fast times with this car on a fast track, it's all about momentum! I managed a 2:12.64 in a White '12 Boss 302 mostly stock with some 275's on all 4 (Bstone RE-11s). It was killer weather out there!

Saw a friend of mine in a vette running in one of your videos but he was running DE3 with me, did you drop down at all? Wondering if I have you on go pro somewhere lol.

Here is one no one is sure to care about. The North Carolina Center of Automotive Research has a course designed to be run clockwise and counter clockwise.

I was out of race brakes trying to get by on my Hawk HPS. I made exactly two fast straightaway passes and made brake brushes where necessary every where else.

The facility is in Garysburg, NC, near Roanoke Rapids. Not much to see, not much to do, nearly impossible to spectate.

Anywho...
