Lug nuts for SVE Drift wheels?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Hey all,

For those of you who've used SVE Drift wheels... what kind of lug nuts should I use on them?

I've gotten the impression that the stock nuts won't fit well. Is that so?

I didn't want to buy the little "tuner" spline lugs that LMR suggested because they looked like they had less area in contact with the wheel. I'll be using these at the track, so I want something strong so that the wheels sorta stay on :)

Any suggestions are welcome.

P.S. My Drifts arrive tomorrow, so I can't test fit a bunch of lugs just yet.

Not a major help, but basically you need to find out if the rims require ball seat or cone seated lugs.
This will determine if you use OEM (ball seat) or tuner lugs (cone seat). I'm sure AMR can inform you!

The SVE wheels use stock Ford style seat lug nuts. If you are tracking the car do not use small hex or tuner aluminum or other such nonsense. They will come loose and you will have an evil handling car or worse. I ran 2 sets of these wheel last year and the lug holes are narrow but a standard 13/16" deepwell socket does work. Use care and you won't scratch them. A friend of mine bought some cone seat reduced hex lugs to use on his Enkei PF01 wheels and they wouldn't even thread on, threads were so poorly cut. Don't take chances with wheels, tires and brake equipment.

Good to know, thanks Steve! I'll use the stock lugs for now.

Okay, fashion question: Can anyone recommend a *black* lug nut strong enough for track use?

I believe Gorilla makes them in forged steel, and they are indeed available in black!

I'm using the drifts with ARP studs and standard ford racing lugs. The fit is pretty tight in the lug holes but they work. Like Steve said if you are careful you won't scratch them. But if they are track wheels a few scratches probably won't bother you.

roadhouse... can you tell me why you upgraded your studs? Are the stock studs not strong enough for track duty?

I upgraded due to the ARP studs being stronger than stock and adequately able to handle the added stress from track days. I also switch wheels/tires frequently and the ARPs are able to withstand more on/off cycles. And it's nice to have open ended lugs so you can see whether or not the lugs are fully engaged.

I don't know that the stock studs are necessarily weak but I knew I would be putting tons of stress on them so I decided to upgrade.

Didn't someone post awhile back about breaking the stock studs on a car. Maybe cloud9?
