Hey Guys- Does anyone know if Maximum Motorsports JRi rear shocks can be converted to coilovers?

Thanks!

Chris

Call MM and ask. The body is threaded, so I suspect they can. But, you loose the ability to easily swap springs between sessions at the track and potential tire clearance.

No, I doubt they could be. The top of the rear MM/JRi shocks goes through the fender well supported by rubber bushings, like a stock shock. There would be no practical way to get the upper spring perch on there, and have an assembly that rotates as needed.

I think the MM shocks have a few advantages I'd prefer over a coilover, more wheel clearance and easier/faster spring change. Any reason you were looking into converting?

Chris welcome aboard, I don't think they can be easily changed as Grant points out. I ran them on my car and they worked well, but I am upgrading to JRZ RS Pros that a kind benefactor donated to the 21 car rehabilitation program project. Seek out Stuart Maxcy on Facebook, he runs Maxcyspeed and specializes in rebuilding and sales of all high end race dampers. He may have an idea or two. Let me know if you guys are heading east, would love to help crew your car sometimes this year.

Thanks Steve. The more I look at it, the more I don't think it's going to work. I don't think there is package space for the spring w/o inverting it and adding a heim eyelet at the other end which makes the shock too long.

I'll call MM just to make sure next week but I think I will be talking to Filip soon [emoji12].

I think we will be out east in September. Would love to meet up. Ditto if you ever make it out this way.
