He received a serious head injury when hitting a rock during a fall and he was wearing a helmet too. I sure hope he's ok.

Prayers for Michael Schumacher following a horrendous skiing accident!!

Let's all keep Michael Schumacher in our thoughts today and in the coming weeks, as he is currently in a coma following a terrible skiing accident. He had brain surgery to correct various neurological issues and the hospital stated without the helmet he was wearing he would not be with us now. He is still in very critical condition and his prognosis is quite tenuous , so a prayer for him and his family would be appropriate.

Below is an updated article with a video. The guy in the studio doing the interview is a bozo. He asks if Michael was simply somewhere he shouldn't have been. Anybody who's skied more than a few times knows you can ski off trail and still be in bounds of the resort.

Thanks for the update. My "guess" is he's a very well conditioned athlete and that is the single most important thing he has going for him, besides the medical care of course.

Here is an interesting article regarding Schumacker and the merits of helmets and skiing. This one hits home for me as I had a severe head injury when hit by a car while riding my bike. I was not wearing a helmet, and was told it would not have helped me. I do wear one now while biking and skiing.

Below is another update. I'm not sure why his wife it talking to the press and telling them to leave them alone. Certainly someone associated with Michael can handle the press so she doesn't have to think about it. Michael is one of the most popular and recognizable athletes in the world so it's only natural that his fans would like updates on his condition.

Man I hope he pulls out of it. I was lucky. I knocked myself unconscious crashing my dirt bike (anyone else see a pattern here? : ) and was very lucky not to suffer any long term issues, but I did forget a lot of movies I had seen up until that point. Oh and after the cat scans and I was about to be discharged the nurse asked if I wanted to wear my jeans home. I said, "sure, why not?" Before she could answer my best friend shot off, "'cause you pissed in them!" I has no idea that had happened, but I sucked it up and wore them home- glad that was the worst of it. My friend said I was unconscious with my eyes open and my hands and feet shaking for about 30 seconds- he had actually jumped off me a little since I crashed in front of him. All I remember is it wheeling out from under me in 3rd gear and me flying like Superman.

I went thru this NIGHTMARE with my First Wife. She had a heart attack & was Clinically dead when the EMTs arrived, But after working feverishly on her they got her heart going again & rushed her to the hospital. On life support, further tests revealed there was no brain activity which means she died here at home before going to the hospital. After 2 weeks on life support, hoping for a miracle, The next decision to pull the plug was GUT WRENCHING!!!!! Once A person's brain stops functioning, they are not coming back... :'(

Not sure if you guys had seen or heard but they are trying to bring him out of the coma. He's still not out of the woods yet, but this is a positive from what I understand of the situation.
