Anyone heard any lap time rumors from the Mustang GTD testing at Nurburgring? It's been at least a month; I was hoping a Mustang variant would get into the 6 minute range.

Last I heard they're targeting 7 minute laps. 6 minute laps are the realm of insane hyper cars. the 2,000 hp all carbon ev Rimac Nevera only did a 7:05 so to get a factory mustang steel unibody (which is what the GTD is based around still) down below that would be absolutely insane. I'm not sure the full aero GTD Pro racecar with the more powerful street car engine could come close to that on slicks.

It will be the full lap, bridge to gantry is mostly used for touristenfahrten.

Just had a look at the GT2 RS lap. Porsche gives two times. One for the full lap and a slightly quicker time using the Industriefahrten start/finish line

"Less than seven minutes to make history." Pretty much confirms a sub-7:00 lap time.

Apparently Ford plan to return next year to the Nurburgring with the GTD so that would suggest they aren’t happy with the time (if they have one)
They hired the track exclusively for a lap record attempt but the weather wasn’t any good
Will be interesting to see what they say on the December 10th

Whether there has put more than one Manufacturer behind the 8 Ball. There is only so much time per scheduled track appointment and sometimes the time is not conducive for track time and a backup period is not better. Best of luck on the 10th!

I'm kind of wishing I had ordered a GTD. I'm reflecting back when I saw a GT in the showroom for sale in 2006 for $139k. In hindsight...whoops...
I don't think you can just order a GTD can you? I thought that there was some qualifying process to see if you're an influencer or something like that. I sent some emails to Ford and Multimatic to find out about this and golly gee whiz didn't get a single reply. Which says something to me. If they don't know ya, you're screwed? I also heard they're "inviting" certain people to buy one. But who knows what's real and what's BS. The dealer where I buy my cars didn't have a clue about it, they didn't even know about any GTD so the retail chain seems unaware or not involved in the process.

Whatever.

I have a brand new Dark Horse with all the go fast options and some nice to have luxury options on it sitting on a lift in my garage waiting for the first track day next spring. That's probably as much car as a 73 year old guy should be thinking about taking to a track.

And funny thing about that story, when I bought the DH the dealer was super happy to see it gone because it had been sitting in their showroom literally for months with virtually zero interest in it. They were desperate enough that they carved a big chunk of money off the price and gave me top buck for my '23 Mach 1 trade in. And this is a dealer in the GTA which is the biggest, hottest market for cars in Canada. So ya gotta wonder....
