New tires for LS rims

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

When I purchased my 2013 Boss brand new I immediately bought some Ford Racing black 302S rims and had them painted Sterling Grey to match the OEM LS rims. They turned out perfect. The original Pirelli tires are now on their last legs and I want to replace them with Michelin Pilot Super Sport but would like to move up a size or two. The rims are 19 x 9 and 19 x 10, I know 265/40-19 and 295/35-19 will fit nicely but want to know if 275/40-19 and 305/35-19 would also fit without issues. I know it may be pushing the envelope a little but I'd like a little extra meat under the car. Any advice or suggestions would be helpful.

I am sure that some people will say it's ok to squeeze such fat tires on your wheels, but I think you will end up losing a lot of steering precision.

If you want more front tire, you can use the 19x10 302S/Laguna rear wheels up front for a square setup (I did that for a while with 285/35/19 RE-11s at all 4 corners). No spacers to clear the Brembos and all I did was trim the end of the sway bar end link bolt to make sure I had no rubbing on the inside. With the 19x10s at all 4 corners, you could even use a 285/35 front and 295/35 rear setup.

This is a good article about tire fitment. Google the author and you can see his opinion might be worth something.

I have the same size wheels, (staggered) on my Boss and I run the MPSS in 265/40ZR19 Front and 295/35ZR19 Rear. It's a great tire set up for the Boss 302. It is also the max tire sizes I will go on these wheels.

Good luck with your decision.

ditto. it's a great set up.

I'm running MPSS on my LS...Front: 275/35-19 and Rear: 295/35-19. No issues with fitment or handling. Good info on running a square 19x10.
