Nor-Cal SAAC Turkey Bowl - Day after Thanksgiving

Hi Guys,

I didn't see a thread posted up here yet for this. Lots of space still for this 92db day at Laguna Seca the day after Thanksgiving.

Made some changes to my car to try and make the 92db limit, if I still have hassles, I'll run my daily driver that I got earlier this year, '13 CTS-V Wagon.

Right now they have 4 run groups, but if numbers stay light like they are now, I suspect they may get collapsed to 3 giving even more track time.

$250 for the day

Skip the shopping and the crowds and spend the day at the track!

I wish. Even 92 is tough in my 350 with the resonators removed. Have a good time!

I'll be there on Saturday trying out my new Laguna trombone pipes.

That's part of my solution.

Since last time I was there we added resonators under the car, switched from Borla touring to GT500 axle back, and created a set of Laguna pipes that include a 4" long race muffler perforated core exhaust pipe on the end of the Laguna pipe and wrapped the whole Laguna pipe in exhaust wrap.

Hoping that gets me to the 92db.

Before all these changes I was at 96db in 4th.

The last exhaust mod got me really close (I think).
Saturdays sound is slated at 90 db, so I have a tough nut to crack. The car is pretty dang quiet already.
I'm hoping that directing it out the drivers side will be enough to get me over the hump.
Stay tuned on that one. :-\

Here you go.

We cut off the exhaust tips from the GT500 mufflers and put V bands on so now I just need to change the tips for the track.

As long as I was cutting the tips off, and because I have tried to replace as much shiny stuff with matte black stuff as I can on my car I went ahead and got these tips to use with my GT500 Mufflers, really happy with the look:

V band complete kit: http://vibrantperformance.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1022_1125_1160&products_id=159&osCsid=2f95d5c565575fd11c7a822c81aa0b34

You can also get just the flanges at a lower cost without the clamp as I did so you can just swap tips for track / street or for tracks not named Laguna Seca. I have had no problems with sound anywhere else.

You can see the perforated core and the v band end in the photos. The come out and can be angled to outlet in any direction.

These are the mufflers we used in the pipes. 24250 is the model number. Dynomax claims as much as a 4dba sound reduction. I'll take every bit I can get.

I bought 90 degree 3" mandrel bent stainless that we welded the muffler into to make the pipes.

Wrapped the whole thing in black exhaust wrap and painted it with high temp paint that came with the exhaust wrap kit.

Fingers crossed that this with everything else is enough. But may not be with the blower. Time will tell.

Looks good, hope it's effective enough to keep us both on track. If it's overcast as the weather forecast calls for now we'll need all the help we can get. Glad the forecast for rain has changed, looks like odds of rain have really slipped.

And we have success!

Ran the whole day with the Laguna Pipes and didn't get a meatball for sound once. Kept in 4th going through 5 and up the hill. Never attempted 3rd, but I was flat out in 4th and with the blower it works.

So glad to know I can do 92db days now, still hesitant on trying a 90db day, but you never know until you try I suppose.

Looked for Fabman there today, but didn't see him.
