On May 12th Steeda Autosports and LSR Performance will be hosting The Pony Wars at South Georgia Motorsports Park (SGMP)! If you have a Ford, GM, or Mopar American made car or you just want to have a great time seeing these types of cars in action, this is where you need to be.
The Pony Wars event is open to any American made car from Ford, GM, and Mopar and with an expected huge turnout with some of the best performance cars around, this will most certainly be an event that will be talked about and remembered for quite a long time. If you have not been to one of the previous Pony Wars events you need to come see what it is all about!
The event will feature “Grudge Racing” match ups until 1:00 pm when the racing will be paired up in “Heads Up” classes featuring an arm drop style start. We will be offering prizes to the top finishers in each class. Slicks are allowed but not required, only “real” street cars are allowed with valid tags and insurance. There will also be a People’s Choice car show for those who want to show off all their hard work. We will be giving out prizes to the top vehicles as picked by the spectators.
This year’s event also will have a special purpose to give back to our military community. All proceeds from the event will go to the That Others May Live (TOML) charity as it supports the children of fallen rescue heroes.
There will be a Friday night Pre-Party at Austin’s Steak House starting at 6:30pm, and a Pony Trail cruise going to the track from the Holiday Inn Hotel on West Hill Ave near the interstate leaving at 8:00am. Track gates open at 9:00am $30 to Race and Show, $25 to Race, $15 to Show, $10 General Admission. No sign up needed, just show up and have fun!
Update 2:
The camaro5 forum guys have got a host hotel with discounted rates. They said it would be ok to pass this info along. I know they are the "enemy" LOL, but a room is a room, and they put on a pretty good party for anyone to attend.
HOST HOTEL:
Holiday Inn & Conference Center
Valdosta, GA
229-244-1111
$79/night for King room or 2 queen beds
We have the rate for both Friday and Saturday nights - tell them you are with the Camaro group coming in on May 11-12.
If anybody plans on using the hotel just post up if you don't mind that way we can get an approx head count so they have enough rooms. I hope to see some of you out there!
Update 3:
We're going to have grudge racing all day, followed by a 3-class race:
Super Quick, Quick, and Fast Street. We're going to have a prize for 1st place and runner-up.
