Question: Removing Block Heater Plug for Water Temp Gauge Sensor

I am getting ready to install a set of Auto Meter Gauges. I plan on installing the water temp sensor using the port on the side of the block near the oil filter where the block heater is typically installed.

The question I have is what size hex head socket fits the plug and what needs to be removed to get to the plug? Can you get to the plug and install the sensor by simply removing the cold air intake and sound tube or do I need to go from the bottom and remove the factory oil cooler?

I removed mine from below and above with the oil cooler in place. I do not recommend this approach. If I was to do this again, I would remove the cooler and do all the work from the bottom.
