In the quarter mile world, the term "fastest" typically refers to top MPH, while "quickest" refers to lowest elapsed time. In the road course and time trials/time attack world, we tend to see "fastest lap time" used for lowest elapsed times. Wouldn't it be "quickest lap time"?

This question comes up as we work on the Lap Times database system.

Speaking of laps, if it was a lap dance would you want quickest, fastest or bestest! Thanks to LudaChris for bringing up thought provoking questions like this, it helps stimulate the medulla oblongata.

Keeping in the spirit of the original question are you referring to the elapsed time of the lap dance or the rate at which the individual performing is moving?
