Some real Boss Racing;

Mustang #16 won the first race by a fender over the Javelin, In race 2 Javelin won. Guys raced hard start to finish, there were multiple passes for the lead between the Boss, Jav and Camaro in both races. The Black Falcon Sprint was a cool looking car.
Great turn out yesterday.

Back in the day I knew this guy that live din Gulfport Florida, had this Boss 302 that was all bondo'd up. when I looked closer it was stripped out, had the Boss 302 engine in it and a full rollcage, according tot he owner it was actually raced in the 1969 season ans was now a street car. I think he paid less than 3K for the car. Think about that, ca Boss 302 with a real race history, essentially all original for 3 grand! An old girl friend of mine bought a cherry 70 for $4500.
Those were definitely the days...back in 1984.
I just count myself lucky to have actually wrenched on some of those.

Also....why do people like NASCAR?

Great video Pappy,
That's exactly what Lime Rock looked like Saturday.

If you have ever been to Daytona for the start of the 500 whether restricted or un restricted you can understand why people love NASCAR, if you have ever sat at the entrance to turn 1 at Watkins Glen for a Cup race you would understand, if you have watched cars coming off of turn 4 at Charlotte, side by side and sideways you would understand. It's just different than road racing.

NASCAR bit it when they went to radial tires, no more sideways driving, no more 4 wheel drifts.

You don't mind the nickname Pappy do you? , dawned on me the other day your handle may be a reference to VMF-214 and Blacksheep-1 was Pappy Boyington. If its not cool I won't use it.
Anyway I felt the same way with the twisted cars of 2004-2008 and the COT kinda sucked, but over the last few years the NASCAR show has made a comeback. Kyle Busch (who I hate only because he doesn't drive a Ford), Kurt Busch, Clint Boyer, Greg Biffle, Marcos Ambrose, Kevin Harvick and Jeff Gordon all drive these cars with the aZZ hung out every week.
Give it a shot this week at Richmond, even if you DVR and watch only the last 100 laps, it's good racing.

You're good, there's more to it but the VMF214 reference is right on, for several reasons. I'm trying to like NASCAR, I really am but I keep gravitating to Aussie supercars.

Thanks for posting the vid, Steve. I think that black Falcon was out at Laguna Seca a few years ago when I was there for the Historics during the reveal of the '12 BOSS...

Guys, if you ever have the opportunity, can't encourage you enough to take in the Monterey Historics (or whatever they're calling it at the time) during Pebble Beach week. Standing in the paddock before the Trans Am race when all of those classic BOSS 302s, Camaros, Challengers, Cougars, Javelins, etc. first fire up to get their engines up to temp is absolutely mesmerizing... I still get goose bumps thinking about it!!
