Who makes a good light carbon hood? A real lightweight piece not the Anderson composite kind that weighs just as much as stock. I want to put the track spec vents on it as well like Flyhalf has.

This would be for a 2018+ car

Depending on your budget, this might be your answer:

Looks awesome and no need to add vents either!

I'm putting one on my current build, I think it's about 15lbs.

I have the Anderson CF hood and compared to the stock it is very light and I have a center track spec vent in it and it fits perfect.
You cant go too light due to strength and durability. I suggest you look at Carbon Creations, Speed Kore, Trufiber, or use that Google machine we all have to see if someone else makes something.

What platform you looking for also?

I’d be happy with a stock replica pin on in carbon to save weight and cost and cut in the track spec if that’s an option.

There are 2 types of carbon parts, race parts and show parts. The show parts are as heavy, or heavier than the stock mustang aluminum hood. The race hoods are just that, extremely light weight, easily replaceable, somewhat sacrificial and crude.
I’m ok with a race hood. I will keep the stock one nice and clean in a box for when I sell the car. Don’t need a $2200 Anderson hood just to cut it with track spec vents. Reasons for track spec over others is I trust they really did their homework in the vents.

The Chicane23 hood is the old Tiger Racing hood that was wind tunneled by ford, Tiger stopped making them. I think the extractor vents on it are more efficient than the track spec vents. My 2008 carbon version is less than 10lbs.

The Chicane23 hood is not quite that pricey and is wind tunnel developed for efficient heat extraction as manufactured.

If you decide to go with another hood that you'll cut for vents, take a look at Race Louvers. IMO, they did their homework a bit better than Trackspec.

Here is mine with the center vent. I didn't pay near retail for my hood but I was an a-hole during covid and bought stuff that was sitting on the shelve for pennies on the dollar. I wouldn't pay retail for an Anderson CF hood either. I do plan on putting the side extractors in soon. I don't know how many track days I have with it, but it has held up quite well the past few years.
