I believe you that the book says that, but the window sticker says otherwise. Unless someone else's window sticker shows the motor is from Canada

A more interesting question might be what percentage of our car was designed and engineered in the US. ;)
Well from everything I read this number, whatever it may be, can only go down as fewer and fewer Americans are studying the hard sciences like engineering, math, and physics.
I'm thankful my two boys are engineering majors.
That's impressive Cloud. You and your wife are truly blessed and this says a lot about the household environment you provided your family. They will be challenged and rewarded in their chosen careers. I wish them well. I too am an engineer and have been for over 30 years. Looking forward to retiring at the end of this year so I can spend some quality time in my yet to be built/delivered Boss.

Regards,
MMD
Thanks MMD. We are blessed and proud of them.

Yes and part of the reason for this is because our American companies have outsourced some of the work that can be done here by americans looking for work.

The problem is, no American wants to do the work for the amount of money the corporations want to pay them for that work. In Asia apparently people are (still) willing to work for almost nothing which results in corporations getting the work done over there. I'm a Silicon Valley internet specialist myself (I do user experience prototyping, mobile apps, etc.) and even my kind of jobs are slowly being moved to India and China by my own employer.

This is the 'free market' that a lot of conservatives think is going to solve all our problems at work!

That said, at least the Chinese are starting to wake up and demanding decent wages which diminishes the advantage of having stuff manufactured there so slowly manufacturing will move back to the United States. In some industries this is already happening.

I thought the engines were made in Canada too. ???

Believe it or not there's already a manufacturing renaissance going on in the US and it will gain a lot of traction through the end of this decade. Increased oil production and low energy costs are driving a lot of this.

Maybe mine is just more 'merican than all the rest, built special for me in the USA. Check your stickers.

I heard the regular 302 motors are built in a couple places, one is in the US but that is just a rumor I heard. I also was under the impression the CNC work and the different valves and stuff are done here. Maybe they ship the short blocks here for final assembly of just the Boss motors after the heads are machines.

Maybe this is because I'm kind of a 'global citizen' kind of guy (I've lived in 5 different countries so far) but I personally don't care where my stuff is made.

I just want the best and in the price bracket I was looking at I can't think of any car that comes even near it. VERY briefly I looked at a loaded Camaro 2SS but as soon as I found out I could have a Boss at MSRP the decision was made in a split second. Because obviously the Boss has way more class. Even the Chevy dealer guy I was talking to said "Dude, do it. I would take that too!" when I told him about getting a Boss at MSRP.

Before that I also considered a Nissan 370z NISMO which is nice, fast and nimble but... really not in the same class as a Boss. And I wouldn't ever be able to take my boy in it who happens to be crazy about race cars. Yet, all three are roughly the same price (42-44k range). I also kind of like the whole 'American Legend/Icon' thing the Boss has going for it AND I have the highest respect for Ford for pulling through the economic crisis without bailout money coming from my taxes so... Boss it is, all the way, without looking back.

But... at the end of the day all these are pretty nice cars that have their own specific qualities. One of them comes from Japan. I see no problem with that because it's an awesome little race devil. The boss just happened to be a little bit more awesome ;)

I was torn between the Z and the GT with the Brembos before I found my Boss. I really like the Z, but my head hits the roof and the clutch feels like a rubber band. It is more fun in tight twisties than the Boss imo but I just couldn't get myself to plop down the money.

The salesmen at the Ford dealer get excited when I show up now, they all love the car. You would think since they sold a couple and had 4 GT500s there (one was a 40th anniversary one that is still new, it is still "for sale" but they won't sell it) that they wouldn't care but they all go nuts.

Did you try the regular Z or the NISMO one? The NISMO one is a little bit like the Boss, also limited, every car numbered etc. I think it looks really hot. The body kit on the NISMO is amazing. But we both agree, it's not a Boss.

Funny though. I was EXACTLY where you were before I discovered I could have a Boss: 370z or Mustang GT with Brembos and a bunch of other options (and a short flirt with a Camaro 2SS but I never really got excited about it). Good thing we both found the car that owns them both :D :D :D

The one I kept trying to force myself to buy was a Nismo, the dealer in Redwood City had it. I am coming out of an 06 Evo though and I was having trouble spending that much on another big wing import that didn't even have boost. I really don't like how they look at all, just how they drive. The GT was the opposite, it was acceptable how it drove but I really liked the looks. I looked briefly at the SS Camaro and Challenger SRT8 but I don't like how they look or how they drive. My friend offered to sell me one of his GT3RS for a good deal, but they are too expensive to maintain though I do really, really like them. A little too over the top looks wise too, for my taste. There were a few other cars too, but I narrowed it down to the Nismo and the GT. I would have liked a RWD turbo car but I don't like the ones I could afford. There were a few older cars I was looking for (300SC manual to boost, 70 Mustang, etc) but I could not find any in good enough shape at a reasonable price.

In the end, I think I made the right decision. Took the Boss out today, it was 68 degrees by the coast and dry (highest so far had been 55 since I got the car) and the Boss really came alive now that the tires actually had some stick, Track Key and the suspension at 5/5.

I felt like this:
