Looking at the times at Laguna its apparent to me the Z28's biggest advantage are those 305's R Trofeo meats on the front. Lose those 305 Trofeos on the front and the Abominable Znow Man looses his teeth.
Point in case: The ZL1 is also in the 1:39 time range with the Boss LS and the ZL1 is not running R compound Trofeos in a 305 but a 285 Pirelli. The Boss LS has R compound tires in a 255 front and it's R compound front tires is the main factor in making it faster around than the standard Boss which did not come with R compound tires.
I gonna say that putting 305's on the Boss, with upgraded suspension, and power puts you right on the Abominable's Z's arse.
