So after collaring both the Michelin and Ford reps at the awards banquet, along with filling out a form that detailed the trials and tribulations of the - 65 SM9+ tire on the front of the Gt4 car, and using phrases such as
" I dont see how the Mustang will ever be competitive using that tire", I was hoping for some movement going back to the old -68 SM9 tire like we used on the prior S550 car.
A recent test proved not only would these tires fit without issue, but greatly improved handling.
It now appears, if the rumors are true, that the change won't happen until around March, if at all. Which, IMHO, is a crock of ****. I have scores of the S9M+ tires that have experienced enough rollover to erase 50% of the Michelin logo on the sidewall even at 3degrees of camber.
So we'll see, not to point blame, but I think it was a mistake to request a car with a narrower front track, more aero loading, and on a strut car to run a smaller tire. Michelin did their best, but it's not working.
On a personal note, am going in Dec 20 n 21 to have 3 cervical vertebre fused, hopefully, this will improve feeling in my right arm, and it will match the 2 lumbar fusions from a few years ago.
Lastly, Kohr has exercised its option to have me at Daytona, if well enough, and maybe Sebring.

Good luck with the surgery.

Wishing you well on a quick recovery, Rob. Shitty to have to endure this through the holidays, but I guess at least it shouldn't interfere with the racing schedule too much. Hope to hear from you soon afterwards.

Hopefully your Christmas present will be a better working arm and less pain! Getting old sucks, all sorts of strange things start to fail in your body. like going in for another thyroid scan.. ugh.

edit: not saying you are OLD just the aging process in general.

Hey, Dude, take care of yourself and have Kohr get you a helper for the lifting. I hope to see you in January.

Just a thought. You can still be quick at Daytona with U/S. You *must* have good powerdown and good straight line. Make sure you don't kill your traction when trying to reduce U/S. It's not ideal, but you can still be competitive with too much push at that place.

God help you at Watkins, though...

Glad to hear the surgery went well and as another one who has struggled with ' Back Issues " for oner 50 years I am impressed you have been able to do the hard work at the track! Now moan and groan a bit so mama will take care of you for the next few weeks, ha!

Have a Merry Christmas also!

OK guys, just got home. For some reason my blood pressure went off the rails, high, then low, so they wouldn't cut me loose.
No driving for at least 2 weeks, 6 weeks of rehab. Hopefully, I'll get all the feeling back in my right arm
My mission now is trying to drive Diane crazy.
One more thing, I cannot speak highly enough of Advent Healthcare. I was really impressed with their personel.
