Square the K-Member???

Happy Holidays!!!
First off my car is an 07 GT500.
I’m currently in the process of upgrading my front suspension. First on the list is the installation of a Cortex K-Member. I got it bolted up yesterday but then started wondering if it needs to be “Squared”. Did a Google search and found that a lot of people don’t go through this process and simply bolt it up and move on.

Sooo….. What do you guys think about investing time to square the K-Member? Worth it???

Thanks in advance and Happy New Year!!!

I haven’t installed a cortex k member specifically, but generally in a k member install you square it up best you can and then get an alignment done

In practice, I haven’t found a ton of variance in doing it carefully vs a quick eye balling on my S550 chassis

Glad to see another 07 Gt500 owner.
Generally you install it, throw a tape on it to see if it's close. The original K member should have alignment holes to accomodate this. When I partially drop the K member for clutch installs, I mark the position with a paint pen. Not a lot of movement happens, but there is some. Then, depending on your conscience, head to the alignment shop.

I had to have a lengthy alignment done by a race shop after installing the cortex k member due to misalignment of not only the k member but also the steering rack. The alignment shop also stated that the steering rack itself was misaligned left/right too.

I would mark everything before doing the work, or expect to pay a race shop to get everything right. It completely transformed the car when I had this work done and was some of the best money I ever spent on the car, but it was very expensive and a cost that I was not expecting to have to pay.

I reached out to Filip at CorteX when I installed mine. The CorteX K-member has somewhat larger attachment holes than OEM, and no alignment pins. This is by design to accommodate potentially tweeked track car frames, and mine has been straightened too. He recommended plumb bobs on all 4 corners, snug up several bolts and adjust with a rubber mallet for equal diagonal dimensions. Torque to OEM specs.
