Thanks very much. Well I had a couple calls with Joe Diederich and placed an order earlier this week - what a nice and knowledgeable guy. Interesting to hear your thoughts/experience, b/c what I’m getting through Joe includes a Driveshaft Shop driveshaft w/ billet yoke, and instead of the Bowler, there are I believe 3 separate harnesses. Also I got an Ace clutch.
Noted. Make sure the DSS shaft has u-joints on both ends. Long story short: their one-piece shafts that combine a CV and a u-joint might be a good idea in theory, but in my experience they are garbage. I also think their driveshaft balancer is drunk. Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing your experience! I'd love to be wrong.

Joe is a great guy to work with.

I recently ordered a kit from lethal performance and had a really poor experience with them. On the kit it states that it fits my 2006 mustang gt as their website claims it fits “(2005-2014 Mustang GT with 8 Bolt Flywheel)”. I ordered the kit on May 3rd 2022, I did not receive the kit until August 3rd 2022. Although it was partially on tremec for manufacturer delays, keep in mind the website claimed they had transmissions in stock, as well as them giving me 5 different false delivery dates by phone. So they are partially to blame for such a long delay. Now fast forward to the delivery day, as I begin my install I see that I have a 6 bolt crank, which clearly won't be compatible with the 8 bolt I was sent. So I do some digging and call Ford, read LMR articles (https://lmr.com/products/mustang-flywheel-tech-info-96-14-mod-motors ) etc. just to figure out that these 05-10 mustang gt’s are only made with 6 bolt cranks. No worries though, I overnight the proper flywheel from summit racing since I don't have time to waste on this install as I'm leaving for school in less than two weeks from the date the kit was delivered. My whole summer that I set aside for the install had gone to waste due to their false claims on delivery dates. I call lethal and let them know that their website has a mistake and that the kit actually doesnt fit the 05-10 mustang gt’s and that an 8 bolt isn't compatible and ask for a shipping label so I can get the flywheel returned to them. The customer service was great, I spoke to Nick Shadoin who handled the situation well and tried to get me a shipping label, but their stuck up manager wouldn't allow it claiming it was my fault for not reading the fine print in the description saying to call them if the car is equipped with a 6 bolt crank. I tried to state my case and say that we were both at fault since the ad (https://www.lethalperformance.com/l...ansmission-swap-kit-2005-2014-mustang-gt.html) clearly says it fits 2005-10 mustang gt’s when it in fact does not. Keep in mind I just spent $6,467.00 and trusted this website to send me a fitting kit, not only did I spend an arm and a leg for this kit, it was delivered 3 months after they claimed ( they charged me full price the day I placed the order). They lost a customer over a $20 shipping label and refused to make it right just after I gave them a ton of business. I do not recommend shopping through them and advise going through other companies who offer kits.

I hate to tell you this, but that's not on them. It's pretty well known that 05-10 GTs come with a 6 bolt flywheel stock and that's what some research would have shown. 8 bolts are usually an aftermarket crank on 05-10 engines or a Coyote engine. They explicitly state 8 bolt only on the product and to call them if you have otherwise. They aren't really responsible for you not being aware of what your car is equipped with from the factory.

Shipping delays are happening all over, in every industry. Sucks they said it was in stock when it wasn't.

Early Cobra cranks fit 3 valves and are 8 bolt. That’s what my stroker had in it. I went through that same flywheel lesson the hard way too.

Playing devil's advocate here, as ChrisM mentioned, it really is up to the customer to know what they need in the end. Could they do a little more to educate their customer, by explaining that the 8-bolt isn't what comes stock on that generation, that the 6-bolt is stock - and to tell the customer to make sure they know what they're ordering? Sure, they probably could do that. It would be in their best interest to do that, and help prevent situations like this. But it's still something the customer should be responsible for knowing.

These things happen when modding cars though. It's just part of the learning process.

Understood, but that isn't what they're equipped with from the factory, so unless the poster had a modified engine of some kind, it's going to be equipped with a 6 bolt...which should be known before ordering.

im not whining about the lack of research on my side, im upset that it states that it fits my car when it does not. If anything it should say it fits the car and ships with a 6 bolt, and call us if it is an 8 bolt since that is clearly the less common case. They also tried to state that 05-10 come equipped with an 8 bolt crank, even their tech guys and manager were telling me that which clearly isnt the case.

I agree with Ludachris, it would have been pretty easy for them to fix it and it sounds like their techs could spend a little time here, but at least now you know.

You may as well Coyote swap it to get the 8 bolt while you're in there (joking).

When I put my TCI built automatic in the car, it had an 8 bolt flex plate but I had a 6 bolt crank. Then when I put the stroker motor in it had an 8 bolt crank so I had to re buy an 8 bolt flex plate and then when I switched it over to a manual I needed an 8 bolt flywheel. The 8 bolt stuff all fits from early cobra to present cranks, including Coyote. Just not 3 valves.

The Magnum XL swap kits have been back ordered for some time and most of the Tremec Elite Distributors do not know when they are getting them, how many they are getting or which gear ratio they will receive. Most of the smaller Tremec dealers don't stock them and rely on the Elite Distributors to drop ship when they have an order, so they really don't have any idea on ship dates. I have two Elite Distributors near me and neither could give me an eta. They are waitlisting people, but at least they are not charging until they ship. I finally found a close ratio kit at Modern Driveline out in Idaho. I would rather deal with someone closer to me after my recent experience with Calimer, but don't want my car down for an indefinite period of time. It is costing a bit more due to shipping, but at least I know it is coming.

Spoken like a true car nut. That's where my brain was going too. Always a way to justify a bigger purchase :)
Yeah, me too but I was trying not to escalate the matter...

I am trying to make sure I have everything I need when the Magnum XL gets here and I am not sure about flywheel bolts. I have the ARP bolts that I installed in March and am not sure if they can be reused or not. I know the factory flywheel bolts are torque to yield (177 in/lb plus 60 degrees) and shouldn't be reused. I used the factory service manual torque procedure in March not knowing there were separate install instructions for the ARP bolts. I just found separate torque specs for the ARP bolts that say torque to 70 Lb/ft. The factory specs shouldn't be anywhere near that. Am I okay reusing them or should I order new ones?

You can re use the ARP ones.

Thank you, the Magnum is supposed to be here Wednesday and I do not want to be chasing parts. I will use the ARP torque specs this time. The bolts received didn't have instructions so I used the factory service manual in March.
