Anyone else have an early SHO? I had a 91, all white with white wheels and the plastic bubble hood. By today's standards it wouldn't be fast but it was a fun car at the time. The Yamaha V6 was sublime. The torque steer? Not so much. One of these days I'll dig out some photos of it. https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1123552_1989-ford-taurus-sho-100-cars-that-matter
We all have fond memories of our past rides, which we appreciate more than anyone else.....Where did that 442 go????????
I had an 89... the ultimate stop light brawler... mostly because nobody expected to get spanked by a four door sedan... with three car seats. Dave Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
Multimatic ran one in CASC regionals and I think maybe some early Canadian Firehawk if I remember right, I think around 1989-90 or so. Scott Maxwell at the wheel. It was a mighty quick piece for the class it was in. I don't remember it running a lot though.
Those early SHOs with the Yamaha were great cars for their time. A good buddy of mine had one. Definition of sleeper off the line. We used to joke about the engine being stout but the rest of it was Taurus and was falling apart. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Never heard a GT I didn't like...and I heard some that I LOVED!!!!!!!!!!.......my Boss comes to mind here.....
Seriously?! All this time we coulda had a mid-engine affordable Ford and they went for a sedan?! *flips keyboard*
Ford must have decided their "performance" money will stay with the Mustang and the Ford GT......Maybe smart on their part.
Not a Taurus but I had a 98 Contour that was a great grocery getter. Unfortunately a driver rear ended me as she was watching an accident and totaled it.
Had a bright red 93. It was my wife's car. The thing had a clutch like a cement truck. Heavy and stiff as hell. I know early cars had problems with the clutches so I figured Ford put in a much stiffer pressure plate because they couldn't increase the diameter. Great motor in a meh car. No space in the engine compartment to service it. It was like asking your dentist to fill a molar from up your ass. Sold it before the required 90K $$$$ service 'cause I wasn't gonna do it!
My 89 went through 3 clutches in the first year...last time Ford installed one they told me an updated part was about 2 months away..they gave me a new bronco to drive...and with a dollie under the front they pushed my car to the back of the shop to await the updated clutch...took about 6 weeks before I got it back but it never failed again...sold it in 94.
