"a bit wet" is an understatement. Unfortunately, I had to watch with the volume off. It looked like wipers were on high and saw one of the Ford's getting its windshield wiped by the driver under a yellow flag. Looking forward to the replay on the 5th.

Technically, that's racing.

I understand the attraction to the venue, sanctioning body and TV to get it over on one day.....but.

Racing on a dry track is better for the fans, drivers and cars. Sometimes the race will be held on a Monday after the rains clear. OK.

At least they don't do the multi million dollar, multi car drag race and wreck like F1.

Sorry for venting. I feel better now ;D

Check out that carbon fiber caliper cover thing...wonder if that is for burn prevention when working or what? Also triple brake ducts, damn!

This is my guess. Something similar to this:

3350lbs !!! I'm jealous

That's heavier than the old S197 girl.

Current 302R 3290lbs lbs OR 3335lbs if using the huge 6 pot 380mm GT500 front brakes. I've heard folks state those brakes added lap time depending on the track.. not all tracks need that much heat mass.

That is a hard hit. Thankfully the tire barrier was there.

As much as the REM 302R could have just breathed off the throttle a little and let him in, and as much as I love Mutlimatic and Maxwell, this was really mostly Maxwell's fault. He gave nearly no room there. Shame to see that car get so tore up over something so dumb.

Good read on the new 'noble steed,' as Jade calls it, over on sportscar365.com...

Mark is a great guy. Interesting comments on the engine in the race car. Hopefully at some point they will dive deeper into the modifications that were made for the CTSCC engines.

Thanks for the link. This comment is interesting:

"Other changes, such as a move from controlled to two-way adjustable shocks and aluminum wheels instead of carbon, also had to be made to conform to IMSA’s tightly controlled regulations."

I'm thinking the new Multimatic DSSV double adjustable dampers are a nice step up from the R's MR dampers but too bad they couldn't use the CF wheels. ;D

They wont put these into the R because benchmarking the Z28 the realized real quick that its not street able unless you have kidney harnesses.

A Z/28 on the road is almost as rare as a unicorn.

I rather see a Unicorn then a {Z/twenty something}.
for what ever reasons, the Z does not turn me on. At least look wise. Never drove one but drove differant models.

Never seen a Z/28 on the road, but I've seen a few 1LEs. I've seen a couple at the track. Also my buddy just bought one (a Z/28) to gut for a race car build lol

I was looking at the GT350R, 911 GT3, and Z28 all right next to each other.. Each looked like a supercar in its own way and all three were eye catching.

I also got to see one on the highway this summer! heading to the GM engineering center in Warren I assume. Again, it looked like a supercar.

ArizonaBOSS your buddy has one bad ass garage, also its not an easy feat to convert a new car into a race car as you well know. The 1LE has a lot of nice stuff.. its a great car in its own right.
