Someone put together some renderings of what the next mustang might look like. Looks interesting and thought I would share.

Cool! It should attract and whole new generation of Mustang owners!

There are plenty of the current retro style to keep all of us happy for many years to come.

None of them wowed me, like "OMG I gotta have it!". 1st pic looked the most promising to me. But I think it will be a difficult transition for Ford after the recent run of the Mustang.

Yep the S197 will be a tough act to follow for the Mustang loyalist.

The average age of a new Mustang owner is 51. We're not the future...few more years and we won't matter and neither will the Mustang unless Ford brings it forward. You guys act like this is the Mustang II! What ever the car looks like it will be a REAL performer and I'm sure carry the name well. I wish them luck!

I didn't say I was a Mustang loyalist. I agree with you. This is my first Mustang if you don't count the 1974 Mustang II my mom owned. :D

well they did say they're going to move away from a vintage tribute body, surely to appeal to younger buyers.
-> I like old things, so Im pretty sure in the end it wont have my vote :(

I'm on board with this. Ford is pretty smart. Look at how they've turned the company around despite a VERY tough global economic environment. Not that they haven't made mistakes in their past (Edsel), but I'm optimistic that the next gen Mustang will indeed perform well building on their recent success, and be styled to retain its heritage, albeit in a more modern way.

The Mustang just needs to stay different. Ford's new cars are beginning to look too much like bigger or smaller versions of other models these days. If they start catering too much to the younger generations they may end up competing mostly on price and value with their Japanese competitors. There are plenty of older Mustangs around and the aftermarket to satisfy those stuck on the retro versons. I hope that "This isn't your father's Mustang" works out better for Ford than "This isn't your father's Oldsmobile" worked out for GM.

I'm going to go on record right now as saying all this talk and images of a Euro styled Aston Martinesque new turbo powered Mustang is smoke and mirrors to create marketing buzz and throw people off the trail of what the REAL 50th anniversary Mustang is going to look like.
