The "Officially Unofficial" 2013 Production Numbers

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

I saw these two while getting my 12/#2275 brake fluid changed:

Boss (white) #3295 and (red) #3350. Sequential VINs: (Red) 1ZVBP8CU2D5277191 and (White) 277190, build dates: (white) 2012-12-18 and (red) 2012-12-19, axle tags: (forgot real name, sorry) (white) 1301 and (red) 2465. Blend: (red) 0786, (white) 0203.
[hope I did not cross numbers/dates/tags]
Since the VINS are sequential, why are the Boss #s out of sequence?

Just curious.

How do I order a build sheet?

Go to shopfordgear.com. There is a link for purchasing build sheets. Just enter your VIN. They have a regular copy and a deluxe copy signed by Elena Ford (the one I opted for). The deluxe copy cost me $46.

Thanks a lot for the info Brian! All Mustangs in general are not built in VIN sequence. As far as I can tell, they are likely numbered close to if not in the actual build sequence, which can be different from the dates given on the window stickers.

Not a BOSS or Laguna Seca

Engineers and designers at Ford have created a special edition Mustang to celebrate the Red Tails, the black Tuskegee Airmen who flew P51 Mustangs and bombers in World War II. To be shown at the EAA Air Venture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the Red Tails Mustang VIN 00051 will be auctioned during the Gathering of Eagles to support the Young Eagles, a program that gives youth a chance to experience general aviation flying.

Starting with a Mustang GT with the glass roof, the exterior gets a non-production aluminum-look paint finish with, naturally, a red tail. In addition to the red and yellow color trim, Ford has added a Boss grille and rear spoiler, Roush rockers, a GT500 rear diffuser, 20-inch Forgiotto wheels and an awesome quad exhaust setup from SVT.

Under the hood is a 2.3-liter Whipple supercharger to spice things up a bit. Inside, the special edition Mustang gets new gauges and new nav screen graphics, Red Tail logos on the seats, illuminated sill plates, tri-colored seat belts and it loses the rear seats in favor a red X-brace.

Previous special edition Mustangs for the EAA gathering, such as the Blue Angels and SR-71 Blackbird versions, have gone for around $400,000.

Do you have the final numbers for the "Released Pre-Production" 2013 Regular and LS Bosses?

I do, I have been bogged down with other projects for the past while. I will see if I can get this done in the next couple of weeks.

Hey PT:

Hope you are still doing well?

Any updates on what Pre-Production 2013 Bosses (Pilot Production and Mass Production/Regular Boss & LS) cars were released for sale and how many 2013 PP and MP cars were built in total?

Have a great day!

;)

Life seems to be flying by these days. Not on the forum much, sadly. Real life is going great though. :)

Ford updated all of the window stickers for the 2013 cars, releasing them for sale. However, we have just found the front end of one LS (PP002?), which means not all of them were actually sold to the public.

In case I haven't answered this elsewhere, for 2013: 8 TT, 22PP, 15MP cars were built.

PT, thanks for the attached information.

After recently researching the PP cars for 2013 it seems that Ford went with 2 different sequential build numbers compared to the 2012 PP models.

The sequential build numbers on the intake manifold for the 22 PP 2013 Boss cars were:

Laguna Seca cars - PP001 - PP008
Regular Boss cars - PP0001 - PP0014

The sequential build numbers on the intake manifold for the 12 PP 2012 Boss cars were:

Laguna Seca & Regular Boss cars - PP0001 - PP0012 ( 4 Laguna Seca and 8 regular Boss cars all lumped together)

Interesting change by Ford for the 2013 PP cars.

:)

I've updated the first post with new links and images.

Is there a chart with the final production numbers which shows how many models went where?
Looking for the final numbers to Canada and to each Province for the LS models specifically.
Thanks in advance!

I was bored at work and decided to create this for a quicker reference...

BOSS 302 PRODUCTION INFORMATION (Thanks to VoodooBoss and PTRocks)
• My numbers do not account for experimental/prototype 302's, time trial builds, or those MP coded. I also do not break down factory options. For reference PTRocks reports for 2013: 8TT, 22PP, 15MP 302's were built. If I come across 2012 TT/PP/MP numbers I will update here

I believe the Marti Reports on all Boss' will be available in the next year or so, as they are showing 2012 as an option currently. See: http://www.martiauto.com/martireports.cfm

1969: Boss 302's total production run of 1628
1970
: Boss 302's total production run of 7013
69'-70' TOTAL
= 8641 Boss 302's
2012: 3250 Boss 302's and 766 Boss 302 LS' total production run of 4016
2013
: 3553 Boss 302's and 765 Boss 302 LS' total production run of 4318
12'-13' TOTAL
= 6803 Boss 302's and 1531 Boss 302 LS' with a total production run of 8334 (4 being charity vehicles)
BOSS 302 GRAND TOTAL (All Years and Types) = 16,975

Of the 8334 12'-13' Boss’ a total of 7508 stayed in the United States and 826 were Exported. Of the 826 Exported 788 went to Canada: 2012 Boss 302’s (291 units) going to Canada and in 2013 497 went to Canada. Meaning 38 went to other parts of the world.

Charity 302 Cars: 2012 School Bus Yellow LS (Parnelli Jones Tribute), 2012 Grabber Blue LS (JDRF), 2013 Red Candy LS (ACS), 2013 Gray LS (JDRF)

Note: The only Yellow Blaze w White Stripes appears to have been privately sold in Canada. Here is the Mecum listing showing it had 8,640 miles: https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0117-269052/2012-ford-mustang-boss-302/

Numbers by Color 2012 and 2013

Kona Blue w White Stripes: 2012 (510 U.S. & 43 Export) = 553

Performance White w Black Stripes: 2012 (553 U.S. & 36 Export) 2013 (578 U.S. & 94 Export) = 1261

Yellow Blaze w Black Stripes: 2012 (226 U.S. & 25 Export) = 251

Race Red w Black Stripes: 2012 (531 U.S. & 37 Export) 2013 (691 U.S. & 107 Export) = 1366

Race Red w White Stripes: 2012 (148 U.S. & 5 Export) = 153

Competition Orange w Black Stripes: 2012 (928 U.S. & 138 Export) = 1066

Competition Orange w White Stripes: 2012 (63 U.S. & 6 Export) = 69

Black w Red (LS): 2012 (583 U.S. & 30 Export) = 613

Ingot Silver w Red (LS): 2012 (146 U.S. & 5 Export) = 151

School Bus Yellow (Base): 2013 (700 U.S. & 156 Export) = 856

School Bus Yellow (LS): 2012 (1 U.S.) 2013 (261 U.S. & 1 Export) = 263

Grabber Blue: 2013 (367 U.S. & 68 Export) = 435

Gotta Have it Green: 2013 (685 U.S. & 107 Export) = 792

Black w Silver (LS): 2013 (499 U.S. & 2 Export) = 501

While the Boss, regardless of package, is rare it appears the 2012 Competition Orange w White Stripes at just 69 units is the most rare with the rarest Laguna Seca being in Ingot Silver with 151 units. The color most heavily exported was School Bus Yellow at 157 units.

When these numbers are compared to the 2015 GT350 at 137 units, the 2016 GT350 at roughly 5500 units, and Ford announcing a five year production run, it appears that our cars will likely remain one of the most limited Ford Racing/Performance cars.

Cobra R run in 1993 (107 units), 1995 (250 units), and 2000 (200 units) producing only 657 units.
Mustang SVO run in 1984 (4506 units), 1985 (1951 units), and 1986 (3378 units) producing 9835 units
2001 Bullitt GT total production 5582 units
2003 Mach 1 total production 9652 units
2014 GT Warrior production was just 50 units

Best,
Charles
