The Times They Are A-Charging

Legendary musician and songwriter Bob Dylan wrote this protest song in September and October of 1963. Less than 1 month later President John F Kennedy was assassinated by a sniper's bullet. The Vietnam war was just in it's infancy and so were the turbulent times of the 60's. America was never the same.

The Times They Are A-Changin’
lyrics written and performed by: Bob Dylan

Come gather ’round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You’ll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth savin’
Then you better start swimmin’ or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won’t come again
And don’t speak too soon
For the wheel’s still in spin
And there’s no tellin’ who that it’s namin’
For the loser now will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin’

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don’t stand in the doorway
Don’t block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There’s a battle outside and it is ragin’
It’ll soon shake your windows and rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin’

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don’t criticize
What you can’t understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly agin’
Please get out of the new one if you can’t lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin’

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is rapidly fadin’
And the first one now will later be last
For the times they are a-changin’

Well a Tesla won’t win any road races, yet, but they can win at auto cross.

Stupid is as stupid does.
Shakespeare might have had a field day with that remark.............as a lot of people today could.Just watch the news...Heard about a guy who received a 4 day jail sentence for some slight offense, but escaped after 2 days and now faces 1 yr sentence in jail for the escape charge... Darwin Knew............

That guy wanted 363 more days of free room n board. Real reason for the original crime.

As long as the market can decide, the cars are safe and meet peoples needs, I am all for the trend.
A free pass in the HOV lane, government subsidies and mandated compliance/accommodation just rubs me wrong.
Lets hope there is a breakthrough in battery tech. Then the market will really respond.

Looks like more people are warming up to the idea of an EV. I'm sure most are in urban or suburban areas.
A new AAA survey shows that 20 percent or 50 million Americans will likely go electric for their next vehicle purchase, up from 15 percent in 2017.
I have to wonder how well their survey population lines up with the new-car-buying market at large. If it's solely from their own membership, there could be built-in bias.

That either 20% or 50 million will likely go electric sure sounds like wishful thinking from an entity that probably has their own agenda. The numbers themselves don't fit very well with the length of time the average bought-new car is kept for (six years per https://budgeting.thenest.com/people-trade-cars-30494.html) and the average rate of new US light vehicle sales (16M - 17M). You'd have to push that 6 year buying cycle out to 15 to make those AAA numbers work.
