I have a cookie for anyone who finishes this video and doesn't have an aneurysm.

Sometimes, accidents happen. Sometimes, the accident happens to you. Sometimes, you are the accident.

This Porsche killed itself before the owner could kill everyone. Very safe car, that Porsche. May it's sacrifice be well remembered.

There is another video with the passenger driving this time. Its only marginally better. I'm originally a Porsche guy so this was a stab in the heart. Has been sent to the Porsche shop guys here as well asking if they would like a customer like this. And to think they blame the car for under steering at one point. It was just trying to find the nearest exit.
Can i claim my cookie, thankfully i have a strong heart. But only just.
I do love the comments section of these videos.

If you watch the other videos by the same poster, it looks like they were sharing the car, and they had just swapped driving (the #2 video seems the one before this, as the guys standing in pit lane at the end of that are the same at the start of this). The other driver is nearly as bad. Apparently, there is no instructor or "solo checkoff" requirement for this organizer - you just need a street license, attend a safety briefing, and participate in the "sighting laps" at the start of the day.

At least in this video, the driver (Black Helmet) asks if the passenger (White Helmet) is ready before rolling down the pit lane. In the #2 video, WH takes off before BH's got his helmet strapped on and seat belt buckled. BH manages to get the seat belt done before they get to the marshall at pit out, but it takes at least a half lap before getting the helmet strap done, all while WH is driving (terribly) at full speed and putting 2 wheels into the gravel. If a wheel had dug into the gravel and rolled the car, the helmet would probably been thrown off, leaving his head unprotected and the helmet a loose projectile. Literally :banghead:

Favorite comments: "Holy sh*t, I thought I was a bad driver. This was a refreshing ego boost! Cheers or whatever"
"It was definitely IMS and absolutely not driver related…"
"Why bother changing brake pads when you can change the engine."
"At least they didn't pull off track and get out of the car in the runoff area after potentially dropping oil in the braking zone. Oh wait, that happened too."

Most accurate comments: "This guy is why you buy track insurance"
"Should have been black flagged and sent home before the end of the first lap."

According to the organizer under "What happens if I keep running off circuit?"
You are permitted to drive on the track asphalt up to and including the white line, and on the full extent of any kerbs (marked red/white). However you are not permitted to put a wheel beyond the white lines or kerbs. If anyone does not comply, the following actions will be taken by the circuit:
  • 1st infringement Black/white driving standards flag warning
  • 2nd infringement Black flag, report to control tower, final warning without penalty
  • 3rd infringement Black flag, 20 minute track time exclusion
  • Further infringements Black flag, 20 minute track time exclusion
He went off 4 times on the first lap, three of them being the first 3 turns. How was he not immediately black flagged?

I've never managed a track day, and have only driven a couple, but I've been an officer of an autocross club for many years and held an SCCA Solo Safety Steward license in the past. Looking at this, I'd consider red flagging the session just to get this guy off the track, especially if he was ignoring a black flag. Someone like this can put the whole organization at risk. Like I said above, what if they had rolled while one didn't have his helmet strapped, and he suffered major head trauma, maybe a coma, possibly death - I doubt a club could survive that even with event insurance. Sure, K&K will pay up to their coverage limit, but who pays the lawyers, do they sue for more than your coverage, and could you ever get insurance again? See SCCA ProRally.

Not only did I finish this video, I watched some of the others. If we ever meet at a track day, you owe me a cookie. I prefer peanut butter, cowboy, or ginger snaps.

I saw that last week. It seems to be going viral and it’s easy to see why.
I couldn’t actually watch for that long, horrendous driving.
UK run track days you don’t need to get signed off. There’s no need to have an instructor either. They typically run open pit lane days so you can come and go on track as you please, no tech either apart from an exhaust volume check, generally very laid back.
The marshals should have called in the lack of driver skill, he’s clearly a danger to himself and everyone else on track

This video could be a very valuable tool in teaching new students why they need two hands on the wheel. If the motor hadn't gone the transmission was not long on the list, as the pressure on the synchros meant it would soon be a grind rowing those gears. Thanks for posting as it honestly is a great source to show folks why training and instruction can be super valuable , otherwise you have Humanidioticus out there on the track with you. Scary, but over the years I had have some students who started around a track just like this and I did come upon a method ( not politically correct and hard to use during teaching today, ha ) to get both hands on the wheel and control back to ye olde wheel of steering.

Do they not check these guys out? Their liability insurance must take a beating with fools like that. Track groups I've run with have a pretty strict policy with people they don't know, you run in the lowest group with an instructor until you prove you are not a jackass, and even with that you're on probation for the first couple of events. Any stupid shti and you're gone.

Agree 100% with my old Canadian friend ( since we are within months of each other age wise ) and hopefully none of you participate in events this loosely managed. Some groups may seem strict but this gives you a vivid example of why. Some folks who hit the track are completely propelled by testosterone with no synapses connecting eleSctric pulses leaving others in danger of their non functioning brains. Been there with some students, almost always the ones who make it a point to tell me how good a driver they are and that they have " Skilllzzzz!" They usually are driving only with their butt cheeks and it is obvious they use that minimal function to drive like an arsehole! Do yourself a favor and go to well constructed track events ( PCA, NASA, SCCA, Chin, etc. ).

OMG! Crashes are still occurring 1:30 after the first car. I can't believe there wasn't a yellow flag long before...
No eyes on that section of track?

The Nurburgring now has full camera coverage and they are beginning to implement ai to help spot track blockages. Before that It was up to individuals to phone in to report crashes during public driving sessions. They did have some Marshall cars driving about too.
Track days have always has marshals on posts.

Sorry to go off topic I just find the whole place fascinating
