Ok I finally saved up enough money to put tires on the new rims. The car is completely stock so I am not going to run square. I will do some Hpde and autox with the setup.

Nittos 01 front 275/40/18 rear 305/35/18

Or

Proxes R888 front 285/30/18 rear 315/30/18

From the forum it seems the Nittos are better but curious because of the 10 millimeter difference in sizes if I'm better off with the proxes? Or will it make much of a difference?

Thanks for input.

Many owners think the NT01 is slightly better than the R888 for the track. I doubt you'll notice the size difference either. The NT01's are a solid choice for the track and provide significantly more grip than the stock tires. Which rims are you going with?

I purchased a set of cloud9's old rims. Vorshlag Forgestar C5, 11 inch rims.

With the 11" rims I would say to run the 305s square. rim is too large for a 275/285 tire. Go to #2 on rear shocks and #5 on the fronts if you are worried about oversteer. Also run 1.5 psi higher front tire pressures and dial in both adjustments based on what you feel. Big advantage in being able to rotate tires front to rear every 2 sessions, especially without camber plates to help with front wear.

+1

The Nitto is a good tire, but watch the rear pressures -- as the rears approach 38 psi in warm-hot conditions they will get greasy. I always aimed for 37 psi hot max at the rear. Running the fronts at 37-38 and the rears at 36 hot would be a good target to start with.

Another vote for the NT01s ... I only have one day on my NT01s but I ran a set of R888s until they heat cycled out, NT01s are a superior tire for our heavy cars in my eyes.

Since you have the Vorshlag with the custom offsets, you won't be able to rotate your tires front to rear, but you can run square 305 all the way around, I would do it. This car loves all the tire it can get.

All good advice in here. I ran a set of nt01s last year and I definitely agree with the above post about watching out for 38+ in the rear - they do get pretty greasy. I think overall its a pretty solid tire choice for the price and grip level. I had pretty acceptable wear based on my standards as well.

I am planning to go to the vorshlag f14s 18x11 also, sort of bummed by the lack of ability to rotate between front and rear, but it's a small price to pay for the fitment.

Generally speaking you want the wheel width within 1 inch of the tire width. You can stretch or shrink a tire over a wider or smaller wheel this will allow you to artificially change the spring rate, but that's kind of a crutch.

Yes,
Thanks for that; it looks like they have a chart online....here's a copy of part of it. It looks like the number in parentheses is the ideal rim size. Maybe I should go 315 in the rear and 305 in the front since I can't rotate them. More width. :)

Take a look at this....

rotatable 18x11 wheels with 305's. Being able to rotate tire saves a bundle of money...so you can go spend it on something else!!
