If you are new to this site, or new to your Mustang, Boss, GT 350, etc. , then take the advice of an old fart racer ( 36 plus years on the track ) who believes this may be the most valuable Mustang source for track rats in the US of A. The absolute biggest problem I have had over the years is buying a product , only to find out I was two years out of the current trend. This meant I purchased plenty of items that no sooner had I gotten them ,I needed to buy something else because it fit better, worked better, or gave me a performance advantage. TMO has contributors that are Ex Ford Employees, current race fabricators, brake specialists, wheel specialists, and serious track addicts. Sure many members bought a product only to find out there was something better , but if you do not avail yourself of the Tech sections , DIY sections, you are missing the single most valuable tool this Forum has. Being older does not make you smarter , but it does give you experience and if you realize that , it makes you appreciate when others can help you find a better mousetrap. Have fun with the great folks on here, check out the General Info, go to the myriad of track events, but do yourself a favor and spend time daily or weekly keeping up with the rapidly changing trends to make your Stang faster, safer and more fun.

Have been on sites , actively, since the 90s, and it has helped me immensely in my business, but it is rare you find a dynamic Forum that is actually super helpful , besides being a fun place to have good natured fun, and this is the place for all that. If you want negative , whining places to vent and chat, don't bother to stop here, this is a full glass of water website that will make you faster along with your beast. Have fun and check out those Tech sections!!

Thanks guys. That's been by design from the beginning. Our moderators do a great job keeping the drama as low as possible. This is a community of like minded individuals that make this a terrific forum for Mustang owners that want to get the most out of their TrackMustangs regardless if they go to a track or not. While nobody would give you a hard time we're probably not the best resource for info on how to change the color of your puddle lights. :)

The idea is that Ford is making the best TrackMustangs ever and our goal is to help you get the most out of your car and be safe while doing so.

Our vendors are all focused on getting the most performance out of your Mustang and I've personally used all of them and have met most of them.

We have a lot of new members and they should ask questions with no worries of how basic or obvious they might be. We all started as beginners at some point and this is the best place on the internet to learn.

Have fun with your Mustang!

What I really appreciate is no one jumps on a new owner of a Mustang , when they ask a question that has been asked 100 times , telling them to use the search feature. I find it extremely rude , when a new individual comes on a site and within minutes gets hammered about how all he/she needs to do is do a search and not ask the same old stuff that many say they are tired of hearing about. Instead on TMO , folks seems to remember the pure excitement and passion they had when they got their dream car and folks step up to help , rejoicing in the newcomers excitement and welcoming them into the fold. Sure , after they are here for a bit , they may be included in some good natured fun, but even that seems to always take on a bit of absurdity and folksy sarcasm. I appreciate the money I will save getting the right equipment for my GT350 the first time around , or at least with plenty of knowledge from all those that are so willing to help the group.

Our TMO Forum has an extensive Technical Library for S197/S550 Mustangs and as mentioned above, it is a collaboration from true Mustang enthusiast and professional builders and racers.

Another important aspect of our Forum is the warm reception we provide to new Members in our New Member Introduction thread(s). I will never forget the warm wishes and welcome notes I received here when I first joined.

We all share in something very special here at TMO, and it's our Members that make this possible.

Thank you to all, and to BP for posting this thread.

How do you install new puddle lights?

All kidding aside, I would have not done half of the mods on my car myself, if it weren't for the assistance I've gotten on TMO. I may have paid for some of these installations that even a monkey mechanic like myself could do. Although any of those cost savings were offset by the stuff I saw on here and had to have! And my thanks to all of you guys who have had the patience of a saint to deal with some of my enquiries and having the grace to help me out.

Now, where's my puddle light kit?

Bill, I want to thank you and Rick and all the others that welcomed me as I am a rookie to all this racing stuff. I'm the very proud owner of a 2012 Boss in competition orange, I'm I love with my car and will never trade or sell her. Nothing gives me more of a rush than when I turn that red- key. My car is completely stock right now, but with all you guys helping I know she will be riding on rails soon. Thanks again, David

Heh, you are just down the road from me , and my family is from Missouri ( mom and dad grew up in a small town in Northern MO. ) and you can always give me a ring. First thing to do with your car is get ahold of MGW , chat with George Ciamillo ( tell George his old buddy in Nebraska suggested you call as I have known him for 18 years ) and get rid of your M-80 , er, MT-82 pile of poop shifter. His short throw shift kit is an absolute must and no one else makes one even remotely close. Call me for info , anytime, and no worries ringing my cell.

@Boss2083 - I'm a relative rookie too (6 HPDE days) and my first venture onto the track in Hastings. It'll be two weeks before my 60th birthday and I'm hoping to be the the oldest fart rookie on the track. Look forward to meeting you there.

Kirk

Hey Kirk, I'm looking forward to Hastings. I hope I can do a few things to my car before then. I'm not to much younger 54 in march. I've always been a straight line man and that's the route I was going to take with the Boss, I'm starting to look at things a little different now. Can I do both? I don't know. I'm going to continue to listen to you guy and learn all I can. Thanks.

Remember guys, I am almost 66, so we will have an AARP ( American Association of Racing People) meeting to get you all acquainted. Tymeslayer will be hosting a Geritol Cocktail Party the Thursday prior to the event with a lovely prune surprise dip.

Seriously, there are plenty of F.O.R.D ( Ford Old Racing Drivers) guys out there and I have around 5000 miles or more on the track so will be happy to give you F.O.R.D.s some help , guidance, instruction and encouragement.
