Touch up paint techniques?

Hi,
I have a tiny nick that I need to touch up. It's very tiny actually, but in my mind its a crater.
I want to touch it up correctly. What is a good technique? I don't want to use too much paint. I don't want a paint nubble left over, etc.
I want it to be smooth if possible.

One person suggested using a toothpick or something.

Can someone recommend a good technique?

thanks.

Have you ever tried Dr. Color Chip? I've used their touch-up paint before and it was an exact match and the process works very well to prevent blobbing and other errors. I was very hesitant to try it, since it's smeared on and then wiped off, but it works perfectly.

That's interesting. I'll study it some more. Thanks!
