Hi, I currently have Nankang CRSV2 325/30-20s on my 2021 GT500. The Nankangs are close to toast and due to their current supply difficulties I'm looking for a replacement. I ran the Sport Cup2s in 315/30-20 square before the Nankangs. They were fine but didn't prob last as long as the Nankangs. I just saw that Tirerack has Toyo Proxes 888Rs in 315/30-20 and 325/30-20... does anyone have experience with these vs the Cup2s for track use? I've never run a set of the Toyos.

If the Nankangs were available I would definitely just get them but I'll probably need new tires before they're available.

Thanks in advance!

The R888R have a bad reputation but they do a couple of things well for the 500- they have those sizes (which are on my car now) and the 500 can use all the tire you can get, they don’t quickly overheat, and when new they hook up better than the SC2 on the street. Lots of full weight, 4 digit HP streetcars run them for that reason.

They don’t have more grip than the SC2 but they won’t be overheated in 3 laps when you finally work through the traffic at a trackday.

I need to replace my tires and haven’t fully decided. I’m thinking going back to a quieter tire just to have something better on the street.

The 888R are the shiniest option outthere. They are awful.
I saw Phil's tire service got back CRS. I would stick with them
Or SUPERCAR3 on ebay 305 squared. Similar to cup2. But waaaay cheaper
I haven't seen the CRSV2s in 325/30-20 at Phil's. I think they are still backordered till January 2025.

I just got some sale notices in my feed for the Toyo Proxes RR 100tw slick. GRM tests show it performing much more like the top 200TW tires, and it comes in the right 325/30/20 sizes and cheap and in stock in a few places like Summit. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/tyt-255330

Hey Stan! Interesting, I didn't know that tire existed. I see they have a Toyo Proxes R now that's supposed to be a successor to the RR. I'll look into those.

Thanks to Flyhalf and Mr. Whitney ( two super fast Championship Drivers ) letting folks know what I have been conveying for years --- Toyo R888Rs suck! Noisy, not fast, and Stan was correct on the fact that they are not as quick as the top 200 TWR tires. Other good choices mentioned ,and you are getting advice from two of the fastest Pony Pilots on this site and I am sure it will impact others to know the thoughts from Stan and Alessandro!!

I appreciate all the input... seems that 888Rs suck :) so I won't touch those. Found other reviews of them and that seems to be a standard review on them.

I'm leaning toward the Toyo Proxes R in 315/30-20 all around. Has anyone run that tire at all? It's "supposed" to be faster than the RR but not much data on it that I can find... I assume because it's new.
