Here's an odd situation some of my 3V people may know something about

Coming out of Hairpin like corners (tight radius, low speed) I am having issues with what seems like deflection in the drivetrain causing the shifter to move slightly and prevent the car from switching gears. This is happening on 2nd to 3rd shifts and is slightly alleviated the more you can straighten out the wheel but is less than ideal. I have yet to get under the car and check the motor mounts or transmission bushing but was curious if anyone has had this kind of issue before.

For reference the car has a stage 2 clutch and MGW shifter

For what it's worth, I've experienced a similar situation on my friend's Coyote powered/(formerly) A5 shifted 1991 LX (Fox in my profile). At BMP last year, when making the hairpin left (T6), I would downshift from 4>2 prior to entry, then (try) upshift to 3rd while exiting in the usual fashion (full grip on the shifter ball, clutch, try to move shifter to 3rd), and it refused to do it. Richard (car owner) had the same issue.

It took a bit, but I figured out if we simply used the palm of our hand on the back side of the shifter ball, and pushed the shifter forward and to the right for 3rd, it worked perfectly every time. We couldn't shift it "normally", had to just push the shifter with the palm of our hand.

Since we only had the one weekend @ BMP, and we managed to work around the issue, we didn't spend time to put it in the air and see if something was loose or out of alignment.

It now has a TKX.

I had something similar (hairpin turn going uphill, couldn't change gears until the car unloaded) and it went away when I changed engine mounts. My new ones are significantly lower and are much firmer. I don't know if it's the geometry connection or the harder material that fixed it.
