S197 Track and Touge V6 Build Thread Profile - S197 Mustangs

Bought in May 2024 with 130k miles. Fell in love with the car on backroads after getting coilovers; Coilovers turned into sway bars and some BMR goodies.

yeah, after my first autoX my tires were definitely my weakest part, being that theyre the cheapest 245s i could buy at the time 😂however wheels and tires are actually next on the list for me; what size would you guys recommend with it being a stock motor V6 making like 300ish hp? i was looking into some 275/35r19s but any advice or suggestions are very welcome!

This is a widely discussed topic here, and there's a ton of experience & expertise here too. You've come to the right place!
After your budget and goals have been considered, our cars will benefit from all the tire you can fit! The wheels required are a significant investment, and something I wish I only did once. If you track or autocross your car often enough, like me, you may eventually wish you had gone wider.

I'm sure others here will have plenty more good advice.

Good luck!

Quick advice .....275s, tooooooo tineeee!
TMS noted Apex wheels are on Sale now ---- 18x11s are the way to go but you will need spacers and extended studs. Apex sells a 25mm spacer along with OPMustang ( Tim ).

Simple answer is always Go Big. What rules package do you follow? What is allowed?
Apex has their annual sale going on now.
theres not any specifications that i know of tire wise atleast, there wont be any issues with the power output of the 3.7 with a bigger tire like a 295 for example? thank all you guys for the quick feedback 🙂

The more grip you have (wider tire and/or grippier ribber), the more speed you can carry in the corners. Think of the Miatas - low HP, but can fit a relatively wide tire for their weight - so they corner like crazy and have a mph head-start down the straight on heavier, high HP cars that need to slow more at the apex. The less power (-to-weight) you have, the more you need to keep from slowing down anywhere.

I have now joined the big tire club with 305s in the rear 275s up front, staggered for now. I believe theyre SVE DPH1s. Wasnt able to test em out today though unfortunately due to rain. Would I be able to run 305s in the front without any rubbing issues? or would it be better to keep them staggered?IMG_6632.jpeg

Staggered widths won't allow for front-to-rear tire rotation, and when you start driving your tires harder you'll be going through front tires quickly. 305s will fit with the right combination of wheel offset, wheel spacers, and camber. And your front will grip and brake much better!
I ran 305s all around and had some minor tire rub on the inside wheel well liners. Adding a couple more spacers to the steering rack is a cheap & easy fix, you just won't be able to turn quite as sharply at full lock.

Yeah front to rear tire rotations are clutch, i did one halfway through my first autox because i had already went thru my brand new rears 😂 im planning on going to another autox in February to be able to hopefully test them out
