Transmission Temperature

This is probably a dumb question, but since our transmissions do better when warm, I think it would be helpful to have a gauge to indicate the trans temp. Does anybody know whether a gauge is available that will read the transmission temperature? I have been looking at the aeroforce interceptor but apparently it will only read the temp of an automatic trans. I'm wondering if there is some practical reason why the temp would be available only for an auto.

You just need a port to screw the sending unit into. On my truck I have a single standard AutoMeter temp gauge with three sending units going through a rotary switch. One position shows engine coolant temp, one is the ZF6 trans, and the 3rd is the rear diff. Pretty slick setup if I do say so myself. I'm planning on something similar on the Boss at some point. Does the Boss have a transmission fluid pump? Or just air cooled?

Coolant filter boss with sender.

I made this PTO cover to house the sending unit on the ZF6. Also seen is the custom filter setup.
