Tuned Peak HP RPMs?

Hi,
Those of you with aftermarket or dyno tunes, where are you seeing your peak HP output in terms of RPMs?

My recent tune showed peak HP around 7000. My tuner said there needed to be some RPM's left for shifting, but I didn't understand that completely. Seems to me that you want power increase over all RPMs, especially over 7000.

Or does this mean that my car is producing more power sooner and thus leaving 500 rpms on the table?

thanks for any feedback.

Did he give you a copy of your dyno chart? My power curve starts to peak and flatten at 6500 RPMs. It continues to build power slightly to about 7300 RPM then begins to very slowly decline to redline. My guess is yours looks very similar to this.
If you had done a baseline pull stock and then overlaid the new tune and exhaust setup, you should see an increase in hp and tq throughout the RPM band. Once I get mine installed I'll go back and do a new pull comparing to stock and have them overlay it with this graph.

Darren: If you're getting a tune and talking Peak HP, you might as well be a PIONEER and get that FRPP CJ manifold installed and tweaked while you're at it, then let us know how it goes! :)

Is the intake for sale yet? I'm doing long tube and a magna flow street series cat back next week...

I was wondering if the car will lose too much torque down low with that intake?

Funny you should mention that because I seriously considered it[1]. I even contacted a custom part vendor about fabricating a new plastic inlet tube (or adaptor) from my CAI housing. But they never got back to me.

I'm sure an adaptor from the circle CAI inlet tube to the oval CJ intake throttle body could be easily made.

[1] Still considering it....
