Upcoming TMO Layout Changes

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

The final phase of changes to TMO are about to happen. The big difference will be the General discussion forums for Boss 302/S197 and GT350/S550 will be combined along with the three technical forums for specific components. This will allow a central forum for anything Mustang related and much of the component specific information is similar. There will remain specific Boss 302/S197 and GT350/S550 technical forums. There will be a few other forums combined as well. The overall goal of the changes are to make TMO more simple to navigate for everyone, eliminate redundant forums and make the forum less confusing for new members. The changes will take place over the weekend. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Will you be purging out a lot of the old B302 tech and how to threads? Or just re-arrangement?

Not so sure I like the combining of the specific component threads, most things don't apply to both chassis :/
We'll be sifting through a lot of threads that don't apply to our car. Just my 2 cents...

Rick:
Do you ever see your Forum moving to an all makes, all cars racing forum? Perhaps with subsections for different makes of cars? TrackCarsOnline, (TCO)?

Then with common threads for race tracks, club racing, race teams, track times etc?

It sure would expand the racing information aspect of the forum.

Just asking about your long term plans for forum growth and expansion.
Thank you,

I'm still considering leaving them as is.

Dave that is a great question. There are hundreds of car forums and just about everything has been covered including a lot of Mustang forums. There are also plenty of track focused forums but surprisingly none specifically for the Mustang. Our strategy is to continue to be a niche Mustang forum with a two fold target audience. The first is to target Ford's "Track Mustang" owners starting with the 2012+ Boss 302 and now the 2015+ GT350. I hope and expect Ford will continue building more track focused Mustangs for the foreseeable future and we will pick them up as well. The other target is to bring in other Mustang owners that will benefit from the technology and parts from the "Track Mustangs" as they track their S197's and S550's. @voodoo child21 is a great example of a member that benefits from this and other members benefit from him pushing the envelope of what can be done with a S197 and S550 Track Mustang.

You'll notice that all of our vendors offer more track specific goods and services and we have no intention of bringing in a bunch of vendors that trip over each other selling the same thing. You may have noticed that @Need4SpeedMotors was included in the new lineup and I'll be bringing them on as an official vendor within the next couple of days. A good wheel/tire shop is really the last vendor we were looking for and I'm extremely pleased that they listened to cloud9 and I about making the R spec wheels. I have personally purchased goods or services from all our vendors and know they all provide an excellent value to our members and quality service. Add to that the participation of some of the large CTSCC and PWC race teams and I think we have a unique blend of discussions that set us apart from other Mustang forums. We hope to continue that well into the future.

Anyway we'll continue on the path as set now but I'm sure more changes will happen in the future. I had a friend that worked at Specialized Bicycles in Morgan Hill, CA. When you walked into their front doors in big bold letters the slogan "Innovate or Die" was on their back wall. I try and apply that to TMO as well. I believe if we had just remained a Boss 302 forum we would have died on the vine so to speak. Bringing in other "Track Mustangs" keeps the dialogue fresh and interesting. I'm sure we've lost a few Boss owners over the changes and we tried to be very thoughtful about the changes to keep that to a minimum. @cloud9 @ArizonaBOSS @Grant 302 and @PeteInCT and I have had many discussions offline on how to continue to grow the forum and from the increase in page views since the beginning of the year I'd say we're headed on the right path.

Looks like they've changed up their reception area a bit since I was last there:

Keep up the great work, Rick! Credit to Ford, too, for making such an amazing car in the GT350. I can only imagine the boost in visitors and new members that correlated to the release of the 350. I've never tracked a car before, and have never heard of this site until I got my 350. Needless to say, I'm sure glad I did.
