It was a ‘typical’ road-going Boss 302, but the customer decided he wanted to make it more of a track-day only car, and shipped it to us. We went to work and gutted the car and performed some of our Boss 302S chassis lightening to it including cutting some interior metal, removing all sound deadening, gutting the dash, removing hvac/audio, etc. We installed our full cage and repainted the interior a full gloss matched to the exterior. Installed our center stack, added some gauges (tach was his, already installed), master kill switch, rear bulk head panels, race seats, made a custom taller shifter handle, installed the Watson/Boss 302S offroad h-pipe, Dynotech driveshaft, and a full Cortex track suspension w/ Watts Link. We re-tuned it due to the off-road h-pipe; otherwise, the motor is completely stock, down to the stock CAI and stock mufflers.
The car dyno’d at something like 400hp/348tq, with huge gains in the mid/upper range due to the h-pipe. But- we think he changed the gearing at some point, because at 7700rpm he was only at 114mph. We’ve seen other 302S race cars at 137mph at the same rpm. A Cobra Jet intake, long tubes, and different rear mufflers probably would have given him a decent additional bump in power.
He runs local track day events with his local Porsche/Ferrari club, and enjoys picking the Porsches off one-by-one in this car… Attached some progress pics for you too, feel free to post them.
