Thanks Grant... Yes, my crazy mecanic friend has a long history of succesful head porting jobs but never with a coyote... I think we will just polish the exhaust ports and leave enough alone.

its fun to watch him work on his flow bench... some manometers and old industial vacum cleaner!

Vacuum...Nice! Well, whatever works! I use aquarium air line snaked all over the car hooked up to several of these for aero testing:

Low tech, but collects actual data, not just theoretical.

Well everthing ordered, splurged and got some extras from MMR (just MMR valve seals, larger volume oil pick up and a ring compressor tool.). The bulk of the parts is from Tasca but looks like several parts have to be ordered form Ford... With luck, every thing will be here in 10 days or so.

Did get a Boundry Forged crankshaft gear for some peace of mind.

Helping a friend with his 2017 mustang for a engine refresh... Boy the gen 2 parts are much cheaper!

Parts arrive this week and getting ready to put it all together.. My crazy mechanic wants to drill hole sin the skirt of the pistons (better lubircation and lighter).... He does it to all his race engines but looking at the forged Boss pistones... they are in excelent shape so really do not want to look for adventures! Any body drilled their pistons?

Am going to get the rotating assembly balanced just in case (with untouched pistons).

Just leave them as-is. They already come with anti-friction coating; drilling the sides of them will cause stress risers there that you would only be able to eliminate with precise grinding and polishing.

Well parts arrived and rotating assembly comes back from balancing tomorrow. When we took apart the engine we so lots of little beads of aluminum in the oil pan... Once the block was all clean and getting prepared you could see lots a fuzzy casting edges with little bits of metal that comes off with your fingernail. We wirebrushed them all off and improved all the rather hideous looking oil ports (smoothing the ragged edges etc).

These are the casting edges with very loose metal beads and shards....

Oh,,,Just a ramble...when you open a box from TASCA, everthing is packed in order or in bags with lots of protection..... On the otherhand, MMR sucks.... valve seals thrown in a box all loose with a bit of crumpled paper as protection.... Amazed they arrived ok.

All parts are in the shop and ready to go. Went this morning to the machine shop were Clutch, flywheel, crank pulley, crank, pistons and conrods were balanced. Pistons and conrods were all within a gram... all the others had minor balancing done to them. I had a doubt about the stock OEM CR3Z-6312-A crank pulley.... Does that need balancing?? Or should it be left alone?? (it was balanced and has a three small drill holes now).
